Man, if he returns next year AND Miami gets Derrick Rose, they are going to be SCARY!

Imagine...

Alonzo Mourning

Udonis Haslem

Shawn Marion

Dwyane Wade

Derrick Rose

That's already a title contender, in my opinion.

Then Riley does look like a genius for trading Shaq.

They won 15 games last year. Playoff team? Probably. Scary? I don't know that Alonzo Mourning puts a team over the top.

Zo doesn't need to average 20 and 10 on that team.

Plus, they will have guys like Quinn and Cook coming off the bench; two solid players.

But yeah, they need to improve their bench, but that starting lineup is SCARY.

zo hasn't played more than 20 minutes a game for the last 3 years what makes you think that he's a key piece to that puzzle. The man will be sitting the bench with the other role players and coming in to relieve a real starting C.

Nothing against Zo he's just old now and shouldn't be starting on a contending team. Off the bench is just fine.

Not to mention in what world do the heat have a realistic chance to compete for a championship with out a very productive big man. This league has shown us over the last several years you need a star quality big man to win a championship. Without that star big a team is just can't get it done in the post season.

All I'm going to say is that when the Nets play the Heat everyone have your cameras ready. Ole' Zo is going to get posterized more than once.

Zo's not a starter in this league. Haslem's a below average PF. Rose is a rookie. You've got Marion, Wade, and nothing else. The lineup isn't scary. 6-8 seed in the playoffs.

Haslem is not below-average; he's one of the best defensive PF's in the NBA and a terrific athlete who runs the floor very well.

Certainly, in the half-court, he's not a great scorer in terms of creating offense for himself, but he can hit the mid-range jumper, is a terrific rebounder, a great defender, and a great athlete who runs the floor very well.

Remember the job he did on Dirk in the 2006 Finals?

Haslem is VERY under-rated; he'll never be an All-Star, but he's a very solid player.

1. Watch the 2006 NBA Finals as well as the earlier part of this season for a PF that carried the Heat with his rugged play.

2. Mourning is better than most starting centers right now. Easily.

3. From what I remember, Shawn Marion is pretty good.

4. Are you really discounting the 2006 NBA Finals MVP?

5. What makes you think Pat Riley won't bolster the bench by November? Bobby Jones/Kasib Powell/Daequan Cook/Chris Quinn/Marcus Banks are already partial locks for the roster, and those guys work hard on and off the basketball court.

6. The East is so weak that a repeat of 2004 isn't out of the question.

7. Pat Riley HATES remaining idle, so expect a shocking Offseason.

8. Never count those guys down in Miami out. They're never down for long.

1. Haslem played very well in the NBA Finals.

Is he better than KG, Duncan, Dirk, Bosh, Sheed, Shard, Jamison, Josh Smith, Bosh, Gasol, West, Scola, Boozer, Brand, LMA, KMart, Amare? If not, then he's below average.

2. Mourning played 25 games last year and didn't get more than 16 mpg. Sorry if I have my doubts.

3. I didn't say Marion was bad.

4. I didn't say Wade was bad.

5. I can't predict the future. Tell me who Riley will acquire, and I'll adjust my predictions accordingly.

6. East is weak, Miami is too.

7. Again, can't predict the future. But Riley traded for some questionable guys in the past who did not help in the win column.

8. What about you counting out the rest of the teams in the East?

Chad Ford said today that if Miami gets the # 1 pick, he thinks Riley will pick Rose.

Apparently Riley is VERY high on him and thinks a Wade/Rose back-court would be awesome.

I agree!

There's no way Miami will be a contender next year. Unless Zo plans on signing elsewhere, I can't understand why he wants to combe back.

How can he pass on a chance to play with Marion, Wade, Rose, and Haslem next year?
