RussellT and TimK on Celtics/Cavs postgame

Post#1 » by floppymoose » Sun May 11, 2008 8:10 am

Tim:
Why didn't Brandan Wright get more playing time?
He likes long players (Tay Prince is a fav)
Baron will not opt out (duh)
Nellie will not walk away from $$$
Team was tired in late season from overplaying Baron and Stephen throughout

Russell:
There was and is no Baron/Nellie rift.

Interviewer, Tim, Russell all agreed the team was good for 60 games in the middle of the season, and wasn't otherwise.

Regarding Wright, I didn't know what to make of Russell's comments about Wright needing to earn his time on the court.

Russell made the comment about both B Wright and Kosta that they performed when they needed them to perform... so then why not play them more and see if they contribute more often?

Earning playing time is fine...if there aren't clear double standards that exist for veterans.

It's not exactly a "double standard" but it's true that once you have earned a PERMANENT spot at the top of his rotation, you don't have to keep re-earning it on a constant basis. He gives those guys a much longer rope because in his mind they have already earned it through a long show of competence. And that's fair.

Watching Pietrus try to play PF all year was painful. Whatever leash he earned the season before shouldn't have lasted the entire season.

At least Kim said BW should have been the primary backup. He specifically said Barnes STUCKED and had no reason to not put BW in his spot.

Even a reporter is a better coach then Nellie... :(

That's the ODBs line when he doesn't want to play someone ("he doesn't look good in practice"). Who can challenge him when most people don't get to see practices. And BTW how does a guy get to shine in practice when he's playing a "cone".

exactly...who can challenge him? nobody could, and he still couldnt impress the coach.

TimK thinks he knows more knowledge than the entire NBA. Fcuk him. He talks smack about Baron and Nellie behind their backs but wont speak up to their face.
Lets Go Baron Davis...i dont care what jersey you put on. Lets go.
Big Smooth is focused and ready to handle the centers of the league.
Curry and Ellis will be a top 5 back court this season. 6/25/2010

I'm sure a lot of people in the NBA can chuck contested 3s and play lax defense... Hell in that case, there's a lot of competent players over at the 24 Hour Fitness I play at..
