The effect this has on our veterans

Post#1 » by scootfu602 » Mon May 12, 2008 6:37 pm

I appologize if there is a thread on this, I looked but couldn't find one.

I was reading an article on this D'Antoni move to NY and something was said that triggered something to me. MD had very light practices, partially the reason Nash, Hill, Raja, etc. were able to play a ridiculous amount of minutes and the reason the Vets loved to some here. The new coach surely will not adopt this kind of practice technique when he gets here, so how will our aging vets handle that? How will STAT's bad knees handle the extra wear and tear? I am really curious and concerned about how all of this will play out.

Thoughts?

It might be an issue, but i guess you'd hope that it would be balanced by the new coach being more willing to let the bench play, especially during the regular seaosn, not killing the 7-8 player rotation all the time.

The reason why the vets are logging so many minutes is because MD won't play his bench. If the new coach would play the bench more the vets should naturally play less minutes.

Regardless of how many minutes a player plays in an ACTUAL GAME, light practices do wonders in keeping players fresh physically and mentally.

Well winning a championship takes everything you got and if that means longer practices then do it.

I am tired of some of these guys whinning about things they should be doing like practice defense and boxing out. If the players complain about practice then I guess they dont want the championship enough.

Not disagreeing. I just remember that the Vets like it here because of the light practices, thats all.
