Shine coming off those round 1 wins?

Post#1 » by evildallas » Mon May 12, 2008 10:53 pm

Is it just me or are those round one wins losing some luster with every road loss that mounts for the Celtics? I still enjoyed the hell out of the games, but maybe Boston just doesn't show on the road. Just in case, the ASG should monitor the situation further before giving Woodson too much credit.

Hollinger pointed out that in a lot of ways, the Suns loss to the Spurs was closer than ours was to Boston because they were in most of the losses whereas we weren't even close.

Don't get me wrong, I still think we did some great stuff there. No team should ever LET a series get to 7 games against an inferior opponent and the Hawks played those wins perfectly - it just made no sense in the first place to reward Woody based solely on that series.

I wouldn't have wanted Woody back even if we had swept the Celts.

Sadly, according to public statements so far, it seems like the ASG want him back. I would like them to rethink that.

The fact that the Hawks weren't even in any of the 4 road games does make our 3 home wins look less impressive. Those 3 wins were definitely a step in the right direction but it does look like it had alot to do with Boston not knowing how to win away from their home court in big games. The ASG is making a big mistake if they allowed the 1st round series to change their opinion on Woodson.

I think one has to give at least some credit to the Hawks' home crowd because they definitely rattled the Celtics, the season's best road team, a little in games 3,4, and 6. Now I think the whole notion that they can't win on the road has gotten into their heads, and in no small part thanks to the Hawks.

The crowd was huge huge. No way we win game 6 without the crowd.

Whether our series will remain a big part of the playoffs nationally remains to be seen. However, the experience and basketball knowledge our players gained from that series is off the charts.
