Will the Celtics defense remain the same as it was this season?

Houston is still an elite defensive team, even without Thibodeau. What makes you think the C's will be any different?

Yes, Detroit didn't turn to mush when they lost Larry Brown did they? The DPOY is still there, and the mentality is still there.

IMO, he had nothing to do with the Rocket's defense. It was mainly all JVG. The assistant coaches weren't much of anything then, except maybe Ewing working on Yao.

You can't just forget how to play defense.

If Doc Rivers is in control I dont think so. They might stay top 5 but I doubt they play at the level they did this year.

If I'm Boston I would let Doc go before I let him go. The Celtic offense lacks any imagination. IMO Ray and Pierce lower offensive numbers have as much to do with Doc's offense as anything else.

Well JVG is gone and we're still a good defensive team. I hope we maintain that next year. It'd be nice if Tom came back to Houston as an assistant next season. He's a great defensive coach and he works well with Yao.

Thibadeaux was the one that put more work in with Yao. Ewing was on a free ride in Houston from JVG.

Yeah it has a lot to do with KG who demands defense. As passive as he is on offense at times, this guy defends hard and rebounds. And he's intense which forces his guys to step it up.

Yes IMO, with Doc calling out the calls for the defensive rotations the demands in game change and it isn't like BOS is stockpiled top to bottom with defensive specialist.

It takes all the effort in the world to cover Ray Allen all year long, and if Sam Cassell returns for an entire year instead of just the end in garbarge time during the regular season and you take away PJ Brown and suddenly you just have a angry KG and Perkins still trying their best but in the end the team with swarm menality is gone.

I have no doubt in my mind if Doc is in control of both offense and defense the defense won't see the coordination it has from Thibs sole focus and game calling.

But Detroits defense did take a hit after Brown left the team. The first season under Saunders produced a very different looking Detroit team that was very efficient offensively, but not as dominant defensively as it was under Brown.

Detroit's defense though has been steadily getting better under Saunders.
