Double dunk?

Post#1 » by shawngoat23 » Tue May 13, 2008 8:57 am

Earl the Goat is said to be able to execute the double dunk. I've never seen this move performed, but are there any players in the NBA (or dunkers such as Kadour Ziani) capable of doing so? Does any have any clips?

Edit: Assume you can't hang on the rim beyond what is normal in a regular dunk. Obviously, your first hand is going to be on the rim for a bit, but assume that you take it off right away.

The double-dunk as in you dunk it and rebound it and dunk it again all in the same jump?

Not two balls, one rim. =)

Yes, you dunk it with one hand, rebound with other, and dunk it again in the same jump.

Here's a clip of what I'm talking about at 2:40-2:46 (filmed in the movie Rebound): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ox3jOu8mY8c

Uh...if you dunk it then you have to grab the rim (by definition; unless you're wearing a cape and named Dwight), so how would you get the rebound while hanging on the rim?

As you hang on the rim with one hand after executing your first dunk, you grab the falling ball with your other hand and then return that through the hoop for the second dunk.

Edit: actually, I don't think you're supposed to hang on the rim.

You can actually hang on the rim when doing the double dunk.

I stand corrected about hanging on the rim, as the dunker in the video I posted also hanged on the rim with his first hand. However, I would think that a "true" double dunk involves catching the ball directly with your second hand (rather than kicking the ball back to yourself).

if you hang on the rim, then almost every good leaper can do it, haha

if you can't, I don't know, maybe Vince in his prime, most likely James White

Vince could dunk it, break the net, rebuild it and then dunk again, all while in the air..

Vince could do a double 360, between the legs, break the backboard, rebuild the backboard, double dunk from the free throw line and over Yao Ming.

It's 100% do-able. Hanging on the rim would defeat the purpose. In that case, why not do it over and over again and set a guiness world record.?!

Ideally you have to get high enough that you can drop the ball through the hoop, then on your descent, catch the ball and quickly reach back up and dunk it again. This way makes much more sense and is 100 times more difficult than simply hanging on the rim and catching the falling ball.

What about dunking it really hard, let it bounce and dunk it off the bounce?
