I think talent wise they are similar in every aspect. It just comes down to health issues and then you consider the playoff success that Kobe has had, just puts him over the top. Its closer then many think, but defensivly I think Kobe is far better, and I'm not saying Mcgrady is a bad defender at all. Play-Making ability goes to Tmac, outside of the point guard spot there are two great play makers and I think the 1 & 2 spot go to LBJ and Tmac, in no particular order which also can be argued. Scoring ability, well we have all seen both score at very high rates and go on scoring tears, I'd say this is a toss up. It really is closer than many think, but again when you throw in the other things like playoff success it puts Kobe over the top, but lets no forget Kobe without a legit big man is 0-3 in the first round

There shouldn't even be a queston as to who's better.
Hes not comparing who's better, hes just saying its close. Talent wise and when both healthy it is close. Obviously Kobe is better, I'd take him without blinking once.

I am a huge T-Mac fan and I admit Kobe is better right now by a very clear margin.
T-Mac was just as good as Kobe and maybe even a little better in his prime but T-Mac is not the same player.
T-Mac is a little slower these days but most of all his jumper is not even close to what it used to be.
T-Mac had games with 5 or 6 3's with regularity , now it's rare to see him make more than 1 three a game.
IMO igoing by the current T-Mac he is still the 4th best wing in the NBA
Kobe
Lebron
Wade
T-Mac

Vince Carter maybe - T-Mac hell no (unless you were a Kobe homer...). Up until '05-06 it was debatable. The 05-06 all-star game/Katrina game was the last time McGrady looked like the T-Mac we knew.Iceburg Slim wrote:The only time Kobe was considered close to T-Mac and Vince Carter was perhaps between the years of 1999-2002.
