OT (sorta): The New York Draft Conspiracy?

Post#1 » by TrentTuckerForever » Mon May 12, 2008 6:46 pm

First, various rule changes removed the hand-checking rules and sped up the flow of the game, increasing the value of point guards.

Then, the NCAA tournament proved that the best prospect in this draft may be a point guard.

The embarrassment of the Isiah Thomas era in New York is snuffed out by the appointment of the classy Donny Walsh and the fan-and-player friendly offensive genius of Mike D'Antoni.

Put all that together along with some of the "curious" (some would say conspiratorial) draft results of the past twenty years. How can you NOT see Derrick Rose ending up in blue and orange on draft night? I know they only have a slim mathematical chance, but not since the early 80's has one of the NBA flagship franchises needed a shot in the arm more. Rose and D'Antoni (and the possibility of LeBron or Wade in 2010) would make Madison Square Garden relevant again.

You heard it here first!

How else was the league going to get Isiah out of New York?

Isiah Thomas proved time and time again he could survive in New York inspite of his horrible results with just about everything he did. *Good job on getting David Lee though*

If the Knicks wind up top 3, so be it. If in some order Jordans' Bobcats, The Knicks, and the Heat wind up top 3...then theres problems.

Stern suggested Walsh, because it was common sense.

Best prospect, i still say Beasely. I've seen many great NCAA pgs do nothing in the NBA.

And as far as hand checking rules, that was some time ago. So unless Stern is Emporer Palpatine from Star Wars...i just don't see that being a conicidence.

Mike took this gig, because Walsh is the polar opposite of his Suns management.

Any idiot can see, done right, the Knicks are one hell of a gig to take on.

I also have the feeling New York will get a top two pick. We shall see May 20th.

I think LeBron won't leave Cleveland. I think he's playing it up like he's going to leave. He will opt out of his current deal, pretend to entertain the thought of playing in NY, and then return to Cleveland. He would become the most hated sports figure in Cleveland if he left.

I have enough faith in the NBA that I believe the lottery is not rigged.

OT: theGreatRC, are you into Jordans?

But have you ever seen Stern and Palpatine in the same room?

OH.....DEAR.....GOD......

lol, Yea im not totally sure its rigged but i just have a gut feeling New York is gonna end up top 3 also. Stern is all about making the most profit and you wouldnt be able to profit more than adding Rose to one of the most highly esteemed sports franchises.
