Horry is a great role player..he wasn't just a clutch player, he's a smart player that played good D..
he's the clutchest player in NBA history IMO..more than Jordan, Miller or anybody..here's my reasoning..those guys all hit shots that were more clutch..they were the main focus of the offense, unlike Horry..they created on their own, unlike Horry..BUT Horry's clutch play has been even more spectacular because of his role..he's just a role player, not a star player, but he's been able to completely elevate his game in clutch time to something far better than just a role player..
the Pistons game was the clutchest game I've ever seen or heard about..how can a role player emerge and score 18(?) points in the 4th quarter and OT in the NBA finals?..it was just amazing to watch..it looked like he just changed into a new person..that and 1 dunk on Rip was just crazy..you expected every shot he took to go in, and I have no idea why he was left open at the end..

like I siadi t's one thing to ride the coattails of one team, Horry won rings with 3 different teams in a span of 14 years...
Yes he got extremely lucky to land with those teams he was drafted into a good situation with a team that put the final pieces together. He did help that team yes. then he got traded to PHX was a bad apple then dealt to the lakers when kobe and shaq just got there, like I said being in the right place at the right time. He is clutch no doubt, but he is also extremely lucky to have played on those teams.

maybe the greatest clutch performance in NBA history IMO..you have to consider that this is the NBA finals and the series is tied at 2, and this guy is just a role player..wow..

Again I cant see where luck comes in this picture .
I mean its not like he stood in front of Staple center and someone drove by and asked him if he wanted to play for the Lakers .
He has earned his place in this league and in history of playoffs as well as the finals as a GO TO GUY .
I cant see how that's considered being lucky .
I think its raw talent and dedication and being able to come through when your team needs you the most.
Also peps mentioned he is an all around player , he's a role player as well as a good defensive presence in the paint , rebounding taking charges , and having high I.Q with certain teams that are stacked with allstars and Superstars .
So at times he doesnt get recognized as an all star or the main focus of the offense of that team , but he knows his role , he knows what he has to do to help his teams win those titles.

Jim Loscutoff won 6 titles with the celtics averaging 5.5 PPG 5.2 RPG .6 APG in his playoff career. Now was he a key piece to those championship teams or was he lucky that he was on such great teams?
Loscutoff is Loscutoff, and Horry is Horry. I don't know enough about Loscutoff to comment about him, so I won't. Regarding Horry, dismissing his accomplishments as mere "luck" is more than just foolish IMO.

Robert Horry is definitely more than just lucky. What team doesn't want a power foward who can hit threes, play good post d, AND play active full court defense? It sounds like rasheed wallace, doesn't it? Horry is basically a role player rasheed wallace.
He's played with shaq, dream, and duncan. ok, you make those guys most effective when you have shooters on the floor, including a pf who can play the high post, shoots midrange shots, cuts to the hoop well, gives the dominant big good post entry passes from 3point land and the high post, and can hit threes. horry is all of that. I remember during the laker threepeat, horry was one of the best postentry passers i've ever seen. Defenders needa respect his 3 point shot, and at the high post, he'd usually flash there, then give it to a shaq fighting for position in the middle. Itd make it easy for shaq to score.
Horry is active; he cuts well and hits the offensive glass. His defense in the BACKCOURT is pesky; I've many times seen him get steals off unsuspecting players after they've secured the rebound. His post defense is pretty good, he gets steals, and he takes a lot of charges. His team d and rotational d has always been excellent, too.
And yes, he is very clutch. Thats been very well documented. The teams that he plays a role for seem to win, and no doubt, he plays a certain role, and does it very well at that. He might be the greatest role player ever.

Pay no mind to the battles you've won

Im not saying he didnt contribute anything to these teams, but what he adds I really dont think it pushed all of the teams over and made them championship players. If he was on some less talented teams he would not have all the rings, He has the rings because he indeed did get lucky and came into good situations. Im not saying hes not clutch but I dont think if horry was on the Sixers or Pacers he would've won titles by pushing those finals teams over the top, he may have but I dont think so.

He has the fans of 3 franchises who will remember his heroics, and the fans of teams who's playoff dreams he crushed with his 3 point shot.
I agree with that but it still doesnt mean he isnt extremely lucky to have 7 or 8 rings. he just happened to fall into some good situations and did his part. Im not hating on him He did his job he filled his role for those teams and contributed to the titles but he alone would not have pushed some of the other finals teams over the top.
