If Luck Struck: Beasley or Rose?

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Tue May 13, 2008 2:26 pm

Chad Ford's article got me to thinking: what would most Nets fans want out franchise to do, if we somehow landed the #1 pick next Tuesday?

We all know that the lottery is going to be rigged this year, so that D'Antoni and Rose can resurrect New York ( lol: ); but if by some fluke we win, who would you pick? Rose, the speedster PG with uncanny scoring ability and the will to win and make his teammates better? Or Beasley, the 6'10 combo forward with uncanny scoring ability and a knack for corralling rebounds, drawing fouls, blocking shots and knocking down effortless 3's?

IMO, either pick would require a trade of some of our current roster. But when you have a chance to take one of these two, I'd say do it. Of course, if someone was willing to pony up some serious trade value for it, you could always keep either the Harris/Marcus or Boone/Sean rotation intact, and acquire a veteran stud.

So, what's it going to be, Nets fans?

Of course Beasley thats not even a question. Rose might be an upgrade over Harris but Beasley is such a major upgrade over everything we have at PF it's not even funny.

And btw it wouldn't require a trade since both Seand and Boone play more like Centers then Power Forwards .

Yeah there is no question here.

Beastly is the guy. If we get the 2nd pick, I take Rose. If we get 3rd, and Rose is gone I say Bayless.

I would go Rose, but I'm a Big XII guy and this is not an easy decision.

I like Harris, and I really like Marcus, but I have a feeling that Rose has a better chance of fulfilling his potential than Beasley. He also affects the WIN (btw: where are you, enetric?) and get the most out of his team.

Here's my short list of players for whom I would for-sure trade the pick:

James
Paul
Howard
Bynum (upon passing a physical)
Oden (ditto)
Durant

There are 2 scenarios I wouldn't mind

We draft Rose and we trade Harris, Hassell and Swift for Elton Brand.(plus dallas pick if they demand it)

Or we Draft Beasley.

...

it's a matter of which roster you like the most:

Krstic/Boone
Brand/Williams
Jefferson/Nachbar
Carter/Ager
Rose/Williams

or

Krstic/Boone/Swift
Beasley/Williams
Jefferson/21st pick
Carter/Hassell/Ager
Harris/Williams

But since we'll never get the first pick why get our hopes up...

I'd add Deron, Amare and Horford(if durant is in there)...

I say he second one. I wouldnt trade for Brand. We dont know what Brand is going to do with his current contract.

Beasley all the way man its not even question.
We're really set for the future as far as the PG position goes for the future and Harris and Beasley is such a good combo going into the future, adding Vince and RJ for imidiate impact is just icing on the cake.
However if we get the 2nd pick than drafting rose and trading Harris is a must.

Beasley would set this team up for greatness in the future.

And we still have big hole at the 4 , GJ . I doubt we could get anything good as Beasley for Harris.

No Brainer!!!!! Beasley!!!!!!!!!

If that was to miraculously happen we can use our exceptions to help the bench or trade for Mike Miller.

That would be nice!!!!!!!!!

this is hard we dont need rose, but he can be good as CP3, which means we good be a good as the NO Hornets

Beasly we need, inside scoring and that fills our need, but then again a big man can be obtained

rite now im caught up, id say Rose, but harris's talent goes to waste....

Not for nothing though, but isn't Beasley more of a SF, especially at the pro level?

I think he could develop well at either forward spot. A bit slower than others 3s too guard the perimeter though, so I have him at the 4 since I believe his frame could take the pounding.
