Grizz Gm on lottery picks

Post#1 » by Cubboo » Wed May 14, 2008 2:34 am

In case you missed the Griz GM Chris Wallace on the Chris Vernon show last Wednesday, I thought I drop a quick recap of the names they talked about. The emphasis was placed on how Wallace projects them regarding the top ten selections in the upcoming draft. If he said top ten, I put 3-10 unless he narrowed down the range.
Player pick range
Derrick Rose 1-2
Michael Beasley 1-2
Brook Lopez 3-5
OJ Mayo 3-10
Daniel Gallinari 3-7
Jerryd Bayless 3-10
Eric Gordon 3-10
Kevin Love 3-10
Anthony Randolph 3-10
DeAndre Jordan borderline
Darrell Arthur touch n go
Nicolas Batum o/s top 10

With his comments, we might be able to see what he would look for based on where we do finally wind up in the lottery.

While I would love for the Grizz to have either the first or second pick, I will not be heartbroken (like last year) if we land 3-6 and draft OJ Mayo.

I think he is the clear choice to solve our shooting guard problem, although some scouts still envision him as a point guard.

Randolph from LSU, who reminds me more of Kevin Garnett than Travis Outlaw would be the next target.

IMO

Indeed. I gotta roll with OJ Mayo@ #3 or #4. If the Grizz are not in the top 3 then we have the worst luck on the planet. For some reason, I see them drafting #5. Not really a problem though. Picks 3,4,5,6 are just about even.

Living here in Vancouver I remember the hype over the Grizzlies picking another LSU player, Stromile Swift. I wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

OJ Mayo and Galinari are clearly the #3 and #4 players in this draft...
