With 18 votes. Kupchack was second with 14.

But I guess it doesn't mean a thing if we don't reach the East Finals.

No surprise. Well deserved, IMO.

Ainge & Kupchak were 2 of the best Execs/GMs this past-season.

They were the GM's who brought in the most talent for their teams, but I'm pretty sure Minnesota and Memphis GM's should have gotten the award, since they're the ones who changed the whole NBA

Well deserved for Ainge. It was either going to be him or Kupchak. Congrats C's!

This is one of the may awards that is absolutely BS in my opinion, Minnesota and Grizzlies deffinitely contributed to both teams success by giving them players that put them over the top for very little. Al Jefferson is good and all but for KG?? Not today, probably 4 years from now that would have been a good trade.
Go Knicks!

Does ainge owe an honorable mention to the Twolves and Sonics for taking thier franchise players? Would Kupchak owe Memphis "really dirty man love" for the Gasol deal if he had won?

New Orleans, Portland, Utah, and Atlanta will never win this award, despite being the cream of the crop teams in a few years from now, because all of their additions have come over time, and weren't real flashy.

Say Portland does really well next year, and exceeds expectations with Oden / Fernandez...Pritchard won't win it since he drafted them both in 2007.

Hornets core was brought in 2 years ago.

Same with Jazz.

Stupid award imo.

It's amazing that two guys who I would've called two of the worst GMs at this time last year at the top 2 in EOY voting. I think Ainge deserves it though - he got it done, and did a good job filling out the rest of the roster with House and Posey while keeping the right young guys around. I still can't believe that 4 year accumulate youth strategy actually worked.

It's also nice to see Bower up there. Just like the Jazz, he basically built a contender while nobody was looking. All of those moves people either panned or didn't say much about - with Marc Stein actually acting like the Bulls hadn't even lost a player when Chandler left - have turned out brilliantly. Even the Mo Pete signing, an inconsistent guy who can score in bunches, has worked out wonderfully.

No surprise. Well deserved, Now we know why did he traded LaFrentz, guard Dan Dickau, and the number seven pick in the 2006 NBA draft to the Portland Trail Blazers for center Theo Ratliff and guard Sebastian Telfair, it was all part of the big plan to get KG.

I don't know who runs NO, but I think that team is just so well put together that I'd put him over Ainge.

Jeff Bower why? he didnt draft Paul or west, and he didn't hire Byron Scott.

That team wasn't put together over the last season and off season like Boston was.

Before this season I didn't respect Danny much. However, he made some outstanding trades that put Boston in a better situation to win a title, and he deserves this moment.

Ainge was mocked for trading for Ray Allen by many analysts. He took a risk that payed off. He kept the defensive-oriented players while trading those who can't defend, which would lead to the best defense in basketball. I'll give Kupchak credit for the Ariza trade. I'd say both have done a good job drafting. The Garnett and Gasol trades were obvious, but I'd have to say as a whole Ainge has done much better and should have received all first place votes. Kupchak is an obvious number 2.
