Sissy Ball

Post#1 » by Sid the Squid » Fri May 9, 2008 11:45 pm

Sissy Ball is a better nickname for our smallball style than *gimmick ball*.

Charles just came up with that on KNBR.

It fits with the way we play the game...Sissy Ball.

I wouldnt call it sissy ball. Sissy's are wimps, the w's dont play wimpy, theyre just small. Charles had it right with "midget ball". He shouldve left good enough alone.

Nellie has tried to get bang for the buck by having 5 guys on the floor who can out quick-run opponents and hit the perimeter J.

That works sometimes.

The problem has been an almost neurotic aversion to playing SOME power game, even when we HAVE the manpower to match up big or tough. The W's do try to play D. C'mon Squidman-you know that...the thing is that is the spirit of Nellieball, the focus is on getting turnovers-while conceding rebounds.

Mosquitos...Grizzly bears....either can spoil your vacation. I want the ability to be the mosquito or the bear..whatever works Both can work sometimes. Being good at both methods makes you a winner.
CENSORED... No comment.

It all depends on talent for Nelson. He did not play small ball with the Bucs, Knicks or Mavericks because of the talent on the team.

It is easier to find swing players who are all around and up tempo which is is style.

In Nelsons first tenure with GS he traded for Ralf Sampson, he traded for Chris Webber.

Nelsons Bucks traded for Bob Lanier and Jack Sikma. Even more confusing for those who think Nelson always was and always will be in favor of Small Ball was that Nelson actually gave Paul Mokeski and Randy Breuer playing time.

You guys never had relatives who lost their minds as they hit 65, 67 , 70, 75?

Nellie's old..He's loves his $$$..Nellie doesnt care about the HOF, or what his peers think, or even winning championships..Nellie cares about the all mighty dollar..He doesnt care about his good name or past loyalties..Nellie doesnt care who he has to sue, or what values he's breaking by holding out on a contract he just signed..All Nellie wants is the $$$..That's why I know he's going to meltdown by March, and then the two sides with will come to a mutual agreement that Nellie resigns and/or retires a month or two before the end of the season..With the whole 5.1 million of course

You are not part of a game for over 40 years if you are only for the money.

As coach for the Knicks with a buyout and as a coach under Cuban he got paid.

A Championship as a Coach is the only thing missing from his Resume. As a player he already got his 5 rings.

Getting paid gives him more cred with todays players. Having a contract while so many on this years players didn't helped him get the most of their limited abilities.

On the Sissy ball term. Is it sissy for players such as Pietrus, Buke, Barnes, and Davis to go up against players who are 3-5 inches and 50 pounds heavier.

It's sissy to run up the court and jack up jumpers instead of grinding it out in the paint....going for steals instead of playing chest to chest...flying around for rebounds like chickens with your head cut off instead of boxing out...hell yes, it's sissy...

Hey, I hear LaFrentz is available this offseason. Our missing piece. LaFrentz/Nellie FTW.
