Is anyone concerned with Beasley being compared to Glenn Robinson? I also would be afraid that he is more of a SF in the NBA, especially with the three point range he has. He certainly has talent, but I think Rose is a all-star lock.
Of course I hope you draft Rose, and then send Harris to Portland in some sort of a three way deal. Harris could net your team some incredible depth.

This guy is like getting Carmelo with a post game. he is sure to be an all-star by his second season.
Melo has a post game.
This doesn't make him a PF.
Hell Durant played PF and even center in college.
Now he is a 2 guard/3.
I am not saying I wouldn't draft Beasley or I am dening his talents, I just don't know that his game translates to the 4 in the NBA.
We'll see.

Only things I want from your team Is either Aldridge or Oden. And seeing as Portland will never trade those two I don't see a deal working out between the 2 teams..

Roster concerns trumped drafting the BPA when the Blazers took Sam Bowie. Portland knew this UNC kid Jordan was special, but they already had Drexler. If we had to rewind, do think their decision would've been a bit different?
Funny enough, I was having a conversation with a friend of mine, and he was shocked that I wouldn't choose Beasley for my Nets. I have to agree, he is the PERFECT fit, and going against looks like you're going out of your way to be unconventional.
All I can say is that I voted my conscience. I would be thrilled with either player though.
I'm really glad people put alot of energy and thought into replying. I think we all know where the consensus opinion lies among Nets fans.

This is strictly a what if type of question, but....
If we had the 2nd pick and we took Beasley would you trade Beasley, RJ and filler for Dirk or Brand, if you could also get Camby and JR Smith for Swift, Marcus Williams and the 21st and Denver's pick of Boone, Curly or Sean Williams?
Sick lineup:
PG Harris
SG JR Smith
SF VC
PF Dirk/Brand
C Camby
Bench: whatever 2 of the 3 bigs are left, Trent Hassel, 2nd rounder and maybe Boki, and 1 or 2 impact FA signings, either full for one or a split of the MLE for 2.
Just a weird pipe dream scenario, but I would do it in a heartbeat.

Why would anyone do that? Beasley is going to enter the NBA as a 20/10 player or close to it. His defense will be poor to average. I would take that at the age of what... 19 or 20? If we get Beasley it would give us players at PG and PF that are mainstays for the next era of Nets basketball.

I like Harris, and I really like Marcus, but I have a feeling that Rose has a better chance of fulfilling his potential than Beasley. He also affects the WIN (btw: where are you, enetric?) and get the most out of his team.
Here's my short list of players for whom I would for-sure trade the pick:
James
Paul
Howard
Bynum (upon passing a physical)
Oden (ditto)
Durant
That seems like an open door to kick in... None of those players will be available for the pick, believe me.

OH, OF COURSE! A GM COULD GET FIRED FOR A TRADE LIKE THAT!
I'm not saying it would happen; I'm just saying that those players are the only ones I can think of that would entice me to trade Rose or Beasley.
