Hopper,

I'm not comfortable with your assumption about Ellis and Biedrins yet.

I come up with something over $60 million in relevant holds, buyout for Foyle, draft picks, all renouncements in, Baron returning at his $18 millionish, and the 5 contracted players.

You're assuming Biedrins and Ellis' roughly $12 million in holds will become roughly $17 million in contracts for the year, right?

And even if you could use $4 million on a player, under the scenario you and I describe for the renouncements, we'd have a roster of Baron, Ellis, Biedrins, Wright, Belinelli, Jackson, Harrington, Perovic, two draft picks perhaps, and your $4 million man (Barnes again?).

That's 11 players and very little improvement unless our draft pick has Nelson's love and Belinelli and Perovic are suddenly useful.

THe smart money is on Harrington moving for multiple players and Baron going by February if he's here on a one year.

Even when I try to agree with you, a fight is put up.

Baron and Jackson going to Dallas for Bass and Kidd would give us more room to sign a decent FA.

No fight- I'm wondering if my math is off.

I'd be interested to hear about potential players to target with $4 million, as I suspect you're hoping to have folks get into. But I'm still very concerned about Biedrins and/or Ellis seeking out unrestricted status for a year in which they can be heavily courted by multiple teams with lots of signing space for max deals. On the bright side, this would mean we could go for much larger fish this offseason if we care to. But the risk is clear.

But with Baron coming off the books, there might still be good rom to retain our players. If only they were our players at that time. The minute we lose matching rights after screwing around with everyone ANOTHER year, it's a bad scene for the Warriors.

Which is why I expect Bill Duffy and Ellis' folks to ramp up their clients' respective rates very high before signing anything. THEY will be giving the discount if anyone does, not Baron.

Dooling./Najera > JCN/Hermann

A good point. Not sure Navarro isn't too "tweener"...not quite our guy at PG or SG. Najera? I want a tough F ,a banger-bruiser. It would hurt that we blew a late #1 just to send him away--then we deal whatever or pay whatever to get him again. Ryan Gomes is another tough F who can be a plus-tend to be undervalued.

Generally speaking---when it comes to trades-you want to get guys who are "underrated" and you want guys you can have a role for. I think we have a role for a guy like Najara or Gomes. It's a role Barnes sometimes filled well---sometimes didn't.

A few years back,U Cincinnati made waves in the Big East with a pair of "undersize" big men, Jason Maxiel and Eric Hicks. Both were about 6-6 245 and played like 6-9. Now Maxiel is an important guy for Detroit but Hicks played Euroball and can be had cheap. Hicks was NCAA top 5 in both shotblocks and offensive boards-can be had cheap. He's nearly the same guy Maxiel is-technically undersize-but so tough inside he routinely dominates bigger guys.

We could have beat Dallas to Brandon Bass. we had Lasme. We could have signed Justin Williams. We (and anyone else) could have bagged Millsap or Craig Smith or Glen Davis in the draft. WTF...we probably will miss out on a few comparable power guys in this draft.

I'm still thinking Nellie has the obsessive notion you can win it all with guards and small forwards. Tried that....lets move on and maybe try stuff that DOES work.
CENSORED... No comment.

I like Najera, but we don't have enough money for him.

Navarro doesn't need to be the perfect PG, becuase we're talking about resting Monta and Baron. He is a fantastic shooter who also takes good shots.

He's the traget not Najera.

Hermann is a thought who may be affordable, but then you'd have to say goodbye to Barnes. I'd have to think about that, but I'm leaning towards Hermann.

Rem, I'm hoping that Nellie realizes that this year because of our money situation, he has to draft and play some beef. Doubtful at best though.

I'm looking to grab our power guy in the draft (Dorsey, Love, Speights, Hendrix, Hardin, etc.)

If we do trade Harrington, then I want it done now and I want another pick out of it this year. And it would make a guy like Navarro even more important for us as a REAL GOOD shooter. He's got a good assist to turnover ratio, I think.

No doubt Navarro can shoot it, but his PG skills stink and so does his defense.

I'd rather get Mardy Collins from the Knicks... he'd fit in well next to Monta.

If the Celtics peter out in the playoffs, then Ray Allen is a deal that will be talked about heavily in regards to Baron

I posted a "Would you do a Baron for Ray Allen deal" at Warrior'sworld.net and the result was a resounding no.

But Ray Allen 18mil for one more year next to Tay could be a decent thing to do for one year and see how it goes.

Younger Ray Allen is the type of guard I want next to Tay. A really good shooter who can handle the ball. I wish he could still penetrate, but with that lightening quick release, it's a wash.

The Celtics would love Baron if they don't do it this year. He gives them a buddy to Pierce and a penetrating PG who would finally have his big man to work with. They'd still have Rondo so Baron's minutes could be held down.

Boston's offense is dying for a Baron type right now, so this might have future legs.

Khoee's cracking me up over there..The way he manipulates that board  ...Del sent him a message to tone down on homosexual talk, so Khoee went into full gay talk for a week straight..It was a masterpiece..Especially the Baron and Pierce posts...

Yeah they hate khoee over there.

It's funny because I was just reading that Khoee thinks Baron will opt out. But Tim Kawakami has Baron not opting out.

There goes my theory that they're the same guy. Unless they're trying to throw me off.

I read Warriorsworld because over all they're way funnier than here. This site can be so serious, but I also like that too.

I barely post over their.

Also like all of the pictures they put up. They have a nice one of Some guy saying how the players of the 90's hated each other and the players of today love each other. Then they posted a picture of Magic and Ike Thomas kissing.
