^^ Imagine we end up with two additional 2nd round picks and maybe Phoenix's 1st (through OKC), we could replenish our roster with talented players without mortgaging the farm.

The way I see it, if we end up with a 1st round pick we should take a PG like Augustine from Texas. We will need someone to replace Kidd when he retires...
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

How about Seibutis and Reyshawn Terry? I just realised that Seibutis was the MVP of the 2005 U-21 World championship. Okay, that's one thing, but the kid is talented. I'm all for bringing back those two for the training camp.

Reyshawn's stats from the Euroaleague (6 games).

Pts 64 (10,7)

FT 27/32 84,4%

2PT 14/27 51,8%

3PT 6/18 33,3%

Rbs 18-6 (3,5)

Asts 5 (0,8)

Stls 10 (1,8)

TOs 15 (2,5)

Bloks 5 (0,8)

That's not bad, i hope the FO gives the guy a chance, we really need some youth, and talent. Hopefully at least on of them can make an impact, maybe both. :)

Without a doubt we need to get a young PG who Kidd can mentor and help grow to take the spot. I would love to get ahold on DJ Augstine from Texas, though right now he's a late lottery selection. Not sure there is a way to go about that...

I gotta say that I love what rick has said up to now. it's the first time since two years ago that I am a little excited. this is a fresh new start for this franchise and it tells a lot that dirk was sitting there in the back row at the press conference. talk about leaders...
the bonding between coach and his best player always lacked during averys tenure. I think that is essential on a good team and it seems as dirk and rick get along very well. rick even plans to come over to germany during summer... not bad! you gotta love it, mavs fans!!
the one thing that became very clear is that the mavs will make some roster changes and I think the JET is on his way out.
dirk obviously is staying, kidd too. carlisle is going to have dinner with josh and is looking forward to working with him, so I guess that josh is on board as well (as long as a really good offer comes along..).
but nobody talked about the JET, so for me he seems to be out of dallas.

bottom line: finally we have a new coach and until now I couldnt be happier that it is rick!

LINK

This a link to a Stein article on ESPN. Nice quotes and points but the biggest is the following.

It sounds as though June, July and August will be busy, too, with rumblings already in circulation about the Mavs hoping they can work their way into the sign-and-trade mix for either Miami's Shawn Marion or Atlanta's Josh Smith. They are likewise bound to be linked in trade speculation to Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal, given O'Neal's successes playing for Carlisle and amid a growing anticipation in Dallas that swingman Josh Howard (after last month's marijuana monologues) and former Carlisle go-to guy Jerry Stackhouse (who only has one year and $2 million guarantee for 2009-10 left on his contract) will be offered in various trade scenarios.

I don't see a SNT trade working with Atlanta to acquire Josh Smith. Atlanta may want Josh Howard, but would probably only be willing to move Marvin Williams for him, and even still that doesn't necessary improve Dallas. It will provide the team with some youth, but Marvin doesn't even have a 3 ball yet, and that's certainly not going to work into the Mavericks style of play. On the other hand if Marvin can add a 3 ball he'll be just as good if not better.

The Miami fans I have discussed things with seem to feel Josh Howard won't be enough to acquire Marion and they don't have much interest for Jason Terry.

A to-do list for Dallas Mavericks' Rick Carlisle

1. Does Dirk stay or go?

2. Is there hope for Howard?

3. The right offensive mix

4. Fill in the gaps

5. A little bit of hope

Click the link. There is paragraphs for each number, so that's why I only included the title, and not all the reasoning under it.
