2005 3rd round pick by the D-Backs. In his first major league start he went 5 innings struck out 6 and walked 3 along with 2 HBP.
Is he the real deal for anyone that follows minor league ball or the D-Backs?

i think he projects as a possible future #3 SP (more likely a #4) if he reaches his potential (in a REAL rotation not fantasy). hes a big dude, average fastball and a good slider. ahvent read much about him lately, but hes for the most part a 2 pitch pitcher who's working on a changeup. i wouldnt trust him, yet. maybe he's improved drastically over the last yr...but i wouldnt put too much stock in a pitcher shutting out the Nationals. i'd have to see more.
in deeper (15+tm) or keeper leagues, keep an eye on john danks of the white sox. former top ten pick back in '03. hes a lefty with a low to mid 90s fastball and a solid curve. other than a bomb he gave up to morneau he was pretty impressive in his debut vs. johan. hes got a higher ceiling than owings IMO.

Yea he's had two good starts now and showed relatively good control.
My main concern is him being demoted after RJ returns.... which is about a week or two away from now...
That said if I was to pick him up.... should I drop Doug Davis, B. McCarthy or Wheeler (I have 3 other closers) in favour of him?
