Seriously, it got on my nerves when I saw the few games he got in and the same play kept being done for him: Arroyo or Dooling stopping the ball and waiting a few steps after midcourt and Redick running around 14598346 defenders only to catch a few centimeters free behind the arc so he could catch and shoot an ill-advised shot.
Why couldn't they simply play "normal" and see what he could do in a "normal" gameflow?
Isn't he best coming off of screens though? Watching him at Duke I just thought that put him in the best places to shoot. The game flow for us is our SG standing at the 3 point line and waiting for someone to double team Dwight or help with penetration, the person on JJ won't do that, because everyone knows how deadly he is with a wide open look. Also JJ doesn't seem like the type of guy who can create for himself. Screening just seems like the best way to get him the ball, IMO.

Good point. The answer I would say is because he is rarely if ever on the court with guys like Dwight, Shard, Hedo and Jameer. That's when he could really shine IMO. Instead of Bogans and Evans getting those open jumpers it would be JJ.
The only problem with that though is that he would be 3rd option at absolute best(if one of the big 3 is sitting) and likely 4th or 5th. What is the point of playing JJ if he isn't going to get the ball? He's obviously not in because of his defense or rebounding. If we get a defensive minded big backup PG and play him with Dwight, Battie, and a SF not named Lewis or Turk he would be effective. If he is in the game, he has to get the ball as a top 2 option, because he is a volume shooter. That's why he hasn't gotten much PT in Orlando thus far, because he'd be the 4 option in most of our rotations.

Yeah but its just not going to happen. Bogans isn't going to opt out. Unless someone throws a checkbook at Evans he's be back and Otis has already said we have two MLEs with Batiie returning. SO we are going to plug those in and believe we are set and go about playing games like we did this season. Hence JJ will get no minutes.
I agree unfortunately, which is why I hope we trade him so he can get PT somewhere else, while giving us compensation for our 13th man(as evidenced by him being the only player able to play in street clothes against Detroit). I hope we trade him to a place that would give him a chance.

I disagree I think that Evans is history with the Magic (his agent doesn't seem to get along with Otis) and Bogans either opts out or he becomes the real trade bait since he was the one who showed what he has to offer another team not Redick.
Plus Bogans and Evans may be looking at their last chance for a bigger payout then either have ever seen just look at their ages and you will see the clock ticking for both of them.
Oh yea pick up Robin Lopez in the draft and he provides the fiery emotion for defense that lets someone like Redick to really play.
Hence Redick will get his playing time with the Magic.
While that sounds good, don't you think we will use either our draft pick or MLE on a SG/SF if we dont' resign Evans? JJ's stock is higher than Bogans regardless of PT, because of his collegiate career. I don't see anyone really wanting Bogans unless he is a filler in a bigger trade, so I think Bogans will be back next year. So essentially I think JJ will be in the same situation as last year with Evans or a MLE SG back or even worse if we draft a SG to basically take his spot.
