Kevin McHale played the whole second half of the 1987 season with a fractured foot.

Alonzo Mourning is playing with a kidney which is not his. Ditto Sean Elliott. Pete Chilcutt never had 2 kidneys. Greg Ostertag donated one to his terminally sick sister.

Derek Fisher played while his cancer-ridden daughter was fighting for her life on the surgery table.
Isiah Thomas played on a twisted ankle and scored 25 points in a quarter, Game 6, NBA Finals 1987.

George Mikan played an entire NBA Finals series with a fractured hand.

Wilt Chamberlain played with a BROKEN shooting hand (Game 5, 1972 NBA Finals)

But since he is not a Euro but wears cornrows, tattoo's and clothes 3 sizes too large, he is perceived as tough.

I'd say Dirk is tough for coming back from his ankle and knee injury so early to make sure his team gets into the playoffs.

this is what I liked about the NBA back then..if you had an injury, the other team would exploit it..it doesn't have to be anything major, but just a few subtle shots to the injured part of the player in question..punish them for playing hurt and punish them for being that talented..

Jordan once played a game with a head cold, but come on that is nothing compared to a broken hand. Kobe is truly a player who makes other better, it is a privilege to watch this man play. He is a once in a lifetime player, enjoy him because there is no other like him.

This is just hilarious to me. That's not going to keep most stars off the court during the playoffs and I'm sure other players during the past have had injuries that trump Kobe's.

Kobe has had to adjust to it, so I respect him for that, but I don't see any reason why it should be made into more.
