The Nets could probably get a very late first rounder for him. This next year is when I really expect him to show his stuff, as long as he doesn't get another fluke injury like he did in training camp this year...
Conditioning is the key with Williams, he looked in shape in summer league but that broken foot kind of put him back to where he was his rookie year (conditioning wise).

At this point i'm sure that the lap tops he stole from his classmates 2 years back are also worth more

Pre-Kidd trade, I always wanted him in a filler that included either RJ or VC for a big man. Post-Kidd, we'll be very lucky to get a mid-late 1st rounder for him. There's still potential in him, but his first two years with a coach like Frank doesn't help his cause. Having Harris here doesn't help his stock as other teams could try and lowball us even further.

Agreed, though he could improve rapidly on the right team (a bad one with a lot of available playing time at the point).

How has Marcus been a disappointment.
What did people expect from the 23rd pick?
Chauncy Billups overnight, just add water?!
2 Seasons he has played. 2 Seasons!!!
One being his rooie year, behind Jason Kidd of all people and the 2nd only playing 53 games out of proper condition because of a foot injury.
You guys must have your CDLs, cause you are excellent bus drivers.

Warriors fan here- I think there's a fit between the two teams.
As I understand, Diop is an UFA and Krstic is an RFA, leaving the Nets with just Boone and Williams in the frontcourt (with Swift). Neither is really a scorer.
Another need seems to be 3P shooting- Carter, Harris, Jefferson all make their living going to the basket, but someone to kick it out would be useful.
so...
enter Al harrington, who's been pretty good from 3P range. He can play the 3 or the 4, or as the Warriors occasionally showed, a little 5 if u want to scramble on defense. He can create his own shot, but he's not quite athletic o r strong enough to reliably do it all game. When he's on fire, though, he'll carry you for a quarter or a half. With slashers around him, he could thrive.
We need to clear out some salary or otherwise replenish the bench. Brandan Wright is our PF of the future, but we'd still need a placeholder PF for a year. We also need a backup PG (Ellis isn't one); a backup SF is also necessary but I don't expect to do it all in one move.
We'll send Al Harrington your way for Stromile Swift (he'll assuredly pick up his $6M option and become an expiring), Marcus Williams, and Maurice Ager (necessary as a filler contract).
This gives my Warriors an athletic, albeit boneheaded PF to keep Brandan Wright's starting PF spot warm until he makes The Leap, a backup PG prospect to help take some load off Baron Davis, and extra financial space in '09-10.
The Nets will get a versatile F who can stretch the floor and add more offensive punch in the front court. IMO, he's slightly overpaid at $9M, but I think in the East he would be more successful (no Duncan, Boozer, Amare, Ming, West, Dirk to guard on a nightly basis).

The value for NJ in this trade is pretty good, but I'm not sure if this is the type of direction the Nets should be going in right now.

I agree with Deviljets7 on this one.
This is pretty excellent talent value for that paskage, but does Harrington do much for us?
East or not, he isn't a truly reliable PF night in and night out.
He's a 3.
RJ plays the 3.
VC the 2.
Unless we were already trading VC or RJ for a standout 4/5 or for expirings and young talent, I don't know about this.
And if we did this deal straight up would Al Harr complain about coming off the bench if Krstic comes back to form or we get lucky in the draft and get Beasley, or we get Love and he turns out to be the player that I feel he should be?
I would rather trade Swift and the 21st or Swift and Marcus to Seattle for Wilcox.
Oh, and on your point of RJ and VC not being real 3 point shooters, well you're half right, but VC is actually a better 3 point shooter then Al and Al is barely better than RJ.
Regardless, very good deal for NJ talent for talent wise, but it just really doesn't make alot of sense.

I think some are underestimating Williams' value. He does have a lot of talent, and just enough plausible excuses (played behind Kidd, broke his foot) that another GM may take a chance on him, hope he breaks out into a good starting point guard.
What we get back for him is anyone's guess...though I imagine he may be part of a larger package.

Walk away from this ASAP.
