Quick question on #34

Post#1 » by Winter Wonder » Thu May 15, 2008 3:06 pm

Current version of RealGm Mock draft has our second round pick going to Memphis. I am guessing this is just an error on whoever created the mock, but wanted to be sure...

Did we trade or do anything with our second second round pick?

There has been no trade.

The Wolves can end up with either the 33rd or 34th pick in the second round, depending how the lottery plays out. The Wolves and Portland (who owns the the Memphis 2nd) will draft in the opposite order that the Wolves and the Grizz draft in the first round - so if Memphis moves up and the Wolves don't, or if Memphis moves up further than the Wolves, the Wolves will pick 33rd and Portland 34th. If the Wolves move up and the Grizz don't, or the Wolves move up further, the Wolves will pick 34th and Portland will pick 33rd. If neither teams moves up, the Wolves will pick 34th.

You're right, that's a misprint.

MIN does owe a future second to DET for the Ronald Dupree, but they can pay it off this year or next. Since we expect to be better next season, and thus, the pick will be worse, its unlikely we'll pay it off this year. But in any case, its not going to MEM.

I think Reina, who has never shown any great understanding of MIN as anything but a roadblock to Kevin Garnett, simply can't tell his bad, small-market MIN's from his bad, small market MEM's.
