Rooting for Utah to beat the Lakers...

Post#1 » by Oden » Thu May 15, 2008 11:45 pm

Portland fan here who despises the Lakers. Sure seems they can't win without the refs.

I've always had respect for the Jazz. Good luck to beating those good for nothing showboats. Beat LA....Beat LA....Beat LA...Beat LA!!!!!!!

I don't know why fans like to use the "Beat LA" chant.

More than anything it shows the Lakers aren't like every other team. We (The Lakers) got your own special little chant. When fans chant it, it just shows how big and iconic the Lakers Franchise really is.

I don't know why everybody is writing the Jazz off. It's not like they got blown out or something yesterday. They lost by 7 measly points. This series is a repeat of the Houston series of last season. Everytime the Jazz have played the Lakers in Los Angeles, they have gotten better against them. The margin of defeat has dwindled every game so far. I really think that the Jazz are going to win the series in seven games. They would have won game five if not for all of the turnovers.

LOL, omg again with this? All home games have been horribly officiated. Jazz got all the calls in Utah, and Lakers get all the calls in LA. Refs seem they cant balance it out. But so far, Lakers in both games in Utah have been very close, OT in second game in Utah, and Tied game with 2 minutes left in 4th. As far as I can tell Refs just cant seem to balance out calls. I hate this "Lakers need refs" Same goes for your Blazers, and same goes for Jazz. Lakers got away with some pushoffs last game. And Jazz got away with pushoffs also in Utah, espically the last play in OT where Boozer pushed Fisher with both his forearms to get Williams the room to operate. Its been the story of Homegames. Also this Lakers franchise must be special with a whole bunch of Fans from other teams rooting against the Lakers. Almost everyone I know at School is against the Lakers.
With the best scorer in the NBA by our side, anything can happen.

Well, Well, Well. It's funny how you have to turn to another team for help because there are crickets in the Rose Garden instead of playoff basketball. I also find it funny that you have respect for a team that everytime they have made the playoffs it has been a futile chase!!! As far as the refs go we haven't gotten any whistles in Utah @ all or the series would be over. So if we are getting the calls @ home, so are they

Look the Jazz are a tough team, this series has been far from easy from both teams and fans point of view. Your just another basic fan who thinks the Lakers can only win with help from the refs.

But on the other hand we'll gladly be waiting to issue a string of a$$ whippings to the Blazers for the next decade.

Get out the business of this series and wait for some more rain.

Do your homework. The Jazz weren't trying to get to the basket in games 1, 2, or 3 but how many more free throws did they shoot in game 4? (20 just in case you didn't know that fact) Undoubtably they needed help from the refs just to make it to O.T. If the Lakers hit a better % from the line the game would have been won by them in regulation

And the Lakers needed 4 three pointers to tie the game, just as unlikely as the Jazz getting beneficial calls in LA in the 4th. One happened, the other won't. Don't count on your guys hitting 4 threes next time.

No joke. So because the Jazz got some calls in one game out of five, its even and fair? You gotta love Laker logic.

We have a team that can spread the floor, Fisher made 2 of those 4 3's. You guys should be use to D. Fish netting 3's in Utah. Oh but I guess it's not acceptable if he has on purple & gold :banghead:

Dude, my mom could be wearing purple and gold, raining 3s, and I wouldn't cheer, but I wouldn't love her any less. It's ALL about the uniform, Fisher ain't special enough for it to be anything else.

Come on dude, if you wants calls you have to go to the bucket, that is why I respect Williams. He is a baller with heart. His team needs to follow his lead

OK, that was a very dramatic post and all, but we have 1 7 footer that shoots 3s who else were you talking about? And he only took 4 in game 5.

I do agree though, the Jazz do need to beat the faces of Odom and Gasol in going to the rim and stopping them from going to the rim.

BTW, Fisher shooting 63% from downtown in this series! Are you kidding me!!! The guy didn't do anything like that in Utah EVER. He is your boy, he thrives in the purple and gold, and I HATE it, but I can't deny it.

Fisher never shot the ball with Utah like he is now. I would have to say he was somewhat of a chucker with us. Also where did his drop the head and blindly charge into the lane move go?
