Nets/Nuggets

Post#1 » by No. 12 » Fri May 16, 2008 2:32 am

Rumors are Nets and Nuggets talking about a potential Carmelo Anthony trade. Getting Carmelo would be good for the Nets future. They are moving to Brooklyn sometime and they would love to have either Melo' or James to begin a new franchise. Melo was born in Brooklyn also.
http://www.northjersey.com/sports/nets/18962874.html

So the potential trade is this:

Nets:
Marcus Williams (young guard)
Richard Jefferson
Josh Boone (young PF/C)
Stromile Swift (expiring)
Keith Van Horn (expiring)
Nets 2008 first round pick (top 10)

Nuggets:
Carmelo Anthony
Marcus Camby

Would you make this trade?

If you read the article it says that the package is not even enough to land Melo, and you want us to throw in Camby?

Make it Sean Williams, and add in Harris. Then we'll think about it.

I can't believe that the Nuggets are actually thinking about trading Melo.

They're not. Nobody would have jobs if they traded Melo... to the New Jersey Nets for such an absurd package, nonetheless.

Me neither, its so obvious that coaching and/or AI are a bigger problem. We trade Melo, I'm no longer a fan, I can't follow a franchise for whom I have no respect. Not like I have much at all at this point.

Well the fact that he signed a MAX contract for 5 years instead of 3 like Wade,James, and Bosh should tell you enough that he is the guy who you should build around.

No, I would prefer to build around a player whos 32, relies on explosive athleticism, and was a skeptical piece to add in the first place. Combine that with a coach thats never won anything and probably will be most remembered for being to coach of the sonics 1st seed team that was upset by the 8th seed nuggets. ugh. open your eyes kroenke.

I am strongly convinced that the nuggets have the worst management in the NBA. as a melo fan, I hope the nuggets do trade him. they'd give him a chance to succeed...apart from being in rocky mountain hell.

not to mention playing in the leastern conference is a cake walk :)

ya its insane.. but I will guarentee you this trade doesnt go down, Denvers FO might be stupid but I doubt they give up Melo unless we are getting equal value in return... which is unlikely

ya"ll crazy as hell if you think that they are going to trade melo...oh, I forgot that they have 3 guys in the front office all on a different page.

if they trade melo than they'll get ai's 21mill off the books as well cause he damn sure will bolt.

stan needs to put his foot down and get some order in that front office...it's a mess and it's trickled down to the team.

I don't have a problem trading any player on this team for the right deal. People seem to be down on this deal (which isn't that specific), but with a little tweaking and the right draft pick, it's not that unrealistic. There's too many variables to seriously evaluate the deal at this point.

I wouldn't be too concerned Nugg fans. This trade hinged on that the Nets some how get a top pick (1-5 probably)... or if someone good drops to the Net's pick. All teams do this (like sonics and boston) that discuss possible trades based on how high or what player doesn't get picked up

If I was a Nuggets GM, I would say to Nets it doesn't matter if they don't get top 3 pick...

Get Westbrook and I'll do that deal.

---

At this point I think trading Melo is "addition by substraction"... as harsh as it is.

Can't win with a player who doesn't want to win. Period.

There you go again, reading a player's mind when you have absolutely no clue what he thinks.

Of course Melo wants to win. Only an idiot would think different.

Trading Melo is subtraction by subtraction. There is no way Denver gets equal value for him, unless some team decides to overpay.

And you do realize trading Melo most likely means AI takes off, right?

The only way this team is improved by getting rid of someone is Karl.

As an outsider, I cant fathom why the Nuggets would trade Carmelo. Not only that, but Carmelo AND Camby for that pile of crap? Not buying. Trade Iverson. The experiment with him and Melo obviously didnt work, hes older, still has value...cut ties with him. I wouldnt be opposed to trading Camby if I were Denver, but I dont think I'd be willing to give up on Melo just yet.

...and why is George Karl still gainfully employed by the Nuggets?

Oh you can absolutely read a player's mind by his production and body language on the court.

If he puts his head down on defense like he doesn't want to do it, then he should not leave his bed and just miss every game.

But give him the ball, there you go, he will be energetic as hell. But take the ball away from him and tell him to play D and he'll be like a spoiled kid told to do homework.

LeBron is no better than Carmelo at defense but he is right now 100x better because of the effort and the desire to want to do it.

---

Bottom line if someone doesn't want to do something, nobody can count on him to do it or expect results.
