Iguodala and Williams would both be BYC, so their "trade salary" would have only half of what their actual salary is. So that wouldn't work.

Thank you sir.

I think this is wrong. Based on my understanding of the BYC rule, players ONLY get tagged with that designation when the team they sign with is OVER the cap. Since we are under, it would not apply to them. Since S/T players are technically signed by the current team, I think the rule would still apply.

What is even more amazing is that Denver was 17 and 65 the year before Melo, and had one winning (42-40) record in (I think) thirteen years. They won 26 more games and made the playoffs in his rookie year, and have been there ever since.

get your face out of melos jock and look at reality, melo is no good for the sixers

You're probably attributing your deep seated "Iggy" fetishes to me. It's called (Freudian) Projection.

You write with such gospel certainty, it almost seems like sometimes you know what you are talking about. In spite of your many posts, which I am sure mean that you know everything about everything, I'll just bumble along on my own on this one. The beauty of this board is that it is not only the ignorant and obnoxious who have the inalienable right to be stupid.

I am really shocked at how underated Carmelo is at this point. The guy is 24 and is the best scorer in the league(alongside kobe, lebron and maybe iverson).Yes, he is not a good defensive player but i think that he has the skills to play decent D under a coach that knows how to motivate him.Yes, i know his team was destroyed in the first round but his team won 50 games in one of the most toughest conference ever.I would trade anything for me him but not BOTH Iggy and Thad Young.

Look, it's no surprise that Carmelo would automatically become our best player if he were to put on a Sixers uniform - and it's hard to argue that he's not a franchise player. But that being said, I would still do everything to avoid parting with Thaddues or Lou Williams. I'd hate to give up Iguodala for reasons I've already mentioned, but if that were the cost, you really would have to make that deal. Like I said before, I'd rather trade Miller and filler for Carmelo but that deal surely wouldn't satisfy Denver. I would think any deal for Carmelo would have to include Iguodala.

Of course, if Thaddeus is moved to his natural position, Iguodala is in fact, the odd man out assuming he can't adjust to SG. In this scenario, it would actually make sense to deal him for Melo. But on the flip-side, Melo plays the same position as Thaddeus, so rather than acquiring our PF - the real position of need for this team, we would have just duplicated a position where we don't need an upgrade at. Now, the big IF in my opinion, is whether Melo can play PF. Because if he can, it would really make sense to pull the trigger on such a deal.

And before anyone laughs about Iguodala and filler for Melo, look at what NJ is offering. Jefferson is basically an older version of Iguodala - a guy who probably has peaked in terms of his potential. Iguodala on the other hand, probably still has some room to grow and based on his offseason improvement last season, I would say that he IS capable of getting better.
