I remember him being considered the GOAT when I started actively watching in 1992. He only had 2 rings then.

He was probably considered the best player in the league either after his 1st mvp or the 32 8 and 8 year

Best Ever was in 1997. Best in the league was from 1988-1998. 1988 he won MVP, DPOY and led in PER, Win Shares, Player Wins, OWS.

Jordan was only considered the best ever until Kobe came along. Now Kobe Bryant is the best ever.

Not even close. How many finals MVP's does he have? To even be considered you need at least 3 finals mvp's or 3 league mvp's. Oh, BTW Kobe lost a series with HC Advantage as well.

I agree that it's not even close, but I disagree with your reasoning. What if Jordan never had a good coaching staff and a good supporting cast? He wouldn't have had all of those rings and MVP's, but he would still be looked at as the GOAT.

You can't be considered the GOAT if you don't have multiple titles as the best player on your team nor finals nor league mvp's no matter who you are.

Jordan was considered the best in the league from 88-96 and then Kobe was considered the best in the league from 96-current.

Jordan was greatly helped and overrated by the media hype machine as the greatest ever BEFORE his first retirement which was an absolute joke. Kareem had him killed in every awards category.

After he came back from his retirement, he helped solidy his place as one of the greatest.

Still, the fact that the media would have the audacity to label Jordan the greatest ever after his first retirement should tell how completly biased they were in favor of him.
