Just in my personal opinion you have to be at least an all NBA player once to be even considered a HOF player. I don't agree with alot of the people in the HOF by the way.

So you dont think Cheryl Miller, Lisa Leslie, Red Auerbach, Bobby Knight, Larry Brown, Sabonis, Drazen, Dean Smith, Nate Thurmond, Walt Bellamy, Bob Lanier, most of the 60s Celtics are HoFers??

I am thinking more along the lines of Bill Bradley and Calvin Murphy.

Anyways I would refuse to give the HOF any sense of credibility when it has Dick "I have a freaking hardon for the ACC" V in before Artis Gilmore. Honestly it is BS that the HOF has let pieces of crap like Vitale in before Gilmore.

If he won another championship and was named Finals MVP it would really help him.

I'd also like to see at least 3 more All-Star teams.

He's not there yet, but he could make a strong case with continued consistent play, and personal and team success.

Rip is definitely going to crack the Top 25 Playoff scorers. After that though kinda depends on the success of teams he's on.

Rip has no legit shot at being a HOFer but he is a real good player. Wish he was still on the Wizards.

That's the main difference as I see it. The 90's Pacers were Reggie's team and he lead them to success (not to say that he didn't have a supporting cast). If anything, Detroit is Chauncey's team. And while Rip isn't unclutch or anything, he has never really done the spectacular like Reggie has.

Agreed. It's much more difficult to put up All-Star numbers year in and year while having your team at or near the top of the league when you're unquestionably the best player on the team. The defensive focus is more intense. Teams will gameplan to simply try and take you out of the flow, etc. Yet, Reggie was still able to be one of the most efficient, effective and clutch scorers in the NBA, each season.

With regards to clutchness, it's pretty much set in stone that, even if you don't consider Reggie the most clutch player in NBA history, he's at least top 3.

While Hamilton is an excellent player (who, by the way, emulates Reggie in many ways), he cannot compare on those two aforementioned levels. That doesn't, however, take anything away from him being one of the better 2-guards in the league.

I'd put him in the HOF just for that.

Why are you upset about Gillmore?? I dont think he was ever all NBA either. According to your criteria Gillmore is correctly excluded.

He would have been at least an all NBA player if he didn't spend his prime years in the ABA. The man was a fixture there on the all ABA teams and was an MVP there. I think him not being on the HOF is one of the biggest travesties in sports.
