Iverson on the Nuggets Remix
This is just a little game that I thought could be fun if anyones bored.
Heres how its played:
- For better of for worse, Iverson is on the denver nuggets
- Its your job to improve the team around him by changing the makeup
-To do this, you must match the position and skill level of each player.
For example: I can swap an athletic wing player for another athletic wing player of similar skill level(Jr Smith for Andre Igoudala) or Defensive specialist big man for Defensive specialist big man(Camby for Tyson Chandler).
Its not an exact science. Some swaps will be more lopsided than others, but try to keep it as close as possible(and if you went a little too generous on one swap, cheat yourself back on the next one). Do every player on the team and see what you come up with. Include who you swapped for who and why.
The point is to build around the said player. If it works out well and people like it, we can do a melo remix also and see what people would have done differently.

the idea of rebuilding around Iverson is ludicrous. AI was brought in to help. obviously anyone who has the opportunity to bring him in is going to take it based on what MAY be possible. truth is, he doesn't fit here.
your little game has a serious flaw. rebuilding AROUND Iverson.
nobody is going to play this game.
give it up.
AI in denver could have been, but isn't, the answer.

ok,but what is the answer?we tried the traditional point guard thing(miller)and it didn't work...we tried the free lance thing(ai) and it hasn't worked.the only constant about this team over this period of time is injuries and bad coaching and one of those has no solution to the problem.well, neither at this point since karl will be back.
as a nugget fan first i have to say that ai was the mvp for the nuggets this yr and i'm a big melo fan but ai was the most consistent player for all 82 games and the only to play 82 games.i see your arguement about him not fitting(imo due to lack of pg play)but in the same breath iverson who has been knocked for his not listening to the coaches in the pass did what was asked of him by coach karl"we want the philly iverson who scored and scored some more and scored some more"!
imo we should trade camby to the nets for a young player and their late 1st rd pick.take a center(in different mock drafts the names roy hibbert and deandre jordan keep popping) up with whichever pick comes first.look at a pg or kyle weaver with the next pick(defensive minded guard).ship out kuba and hunter to get into the 2nd rd.

Thank you, finally a nugget fan who has is feet on this planet and not on the melo planet.............
please guys just stop this ridiculous AI haters...there is a team problem here....not only one player....i am not against Melo, but where was the franchise player in Denver...I don t care about what happened in his private life, DUi or this things, i am use to it(europe), here everyday sport player got things like that....
I was disapointed in Melo against the Lakers, saying to people "quit", having this frustrated smile when they lost, acting like a schoolboy who loose a game but in his head is still think is up Kobe and Co....that was pathetic....so he should have more respect for the rest of the team, as an AI admirer i ll tell you one thing, AI did a lot of things bad for the Sixers(too many shot in fact sometimes), but he brought them to the finals after 6-5 years he was there, and believe me by far he did not have a talented team like the Nuggets today, the finals was against Kobe-Shaq, not an easy one when shaq was 27-28.
Melo in 5 years with the nuggets has not really done anything that we can consider as an achievment like Lebron did with the Cavaliers.
Melo being a great player, certainly, melo being young in his mind, definitely, melo will bring denver somewhere alone certainly not.
On the other hand AI being the answer for the nuggets....NO (under karl)
could be different with another coach, YES.
When a coach is known for an offensive coach, they need to work on the Defensive area, obviously, here in Denver, you have 3 guys who can take a game...Melo-AI-JR, thinking to keep the youngest one to build around doesn t mean you ll finally get to the chiamponship, the celtics got 3 old all star who has already proven who they are.
JR-Melo have to prove a lot, both wants to be the stars, in my mind AI is not the major problem, he definitely help more the nuggets this year than melo, as per JR also, in my mind.
After that thread i ll probably get insult, but anyway, keep karl, trade AI, trade Camby, whatever you want and keep hoping...the thread AI-MELO has been around since 6 months now....easy to put critics on a guy... as 24K said, Iverson is NOW listening to coaches....so KARL show them the way to the Finals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Coach change is my answer, Denver is waiting for how long...too much, 1-2 more years with a new coach on a talented team like that won t be that much no.

If we were to build this team around Iverson I would do something like this...
1) Trade Melo for Luol Deng and Joakim Noah... (Fillers would be needed)
2) Trade Camby and our first for Calderon...(Fillers would be needed once again).
Potentially our lineup could look a little something like..
PG- Calderon/Iverson
SG-Iverson/ JR
SF-Luol/ Kleiza
PF-Noah/ Kmart
C-Nene/ Noah
Obviously there would be more but it would be a 7-8 man rotation...
Doesnt seem to make us a whole lot better and honestly my first option would definitely not be to build around AI, but that would be a cheap cap friendly way to keep Iverson happy and build around him.

Like others said, I completely disagree with the premise. I love AI, but he's an impossible talent to build a winning team around (there's a reason he wasn't asked back on the olympic squad). But since it's the offseason and I love Iverson, here we go.
Hinrich for JR Smith (sign and trade) / Hunter
Artest/Salmons for Melo
Kmart/Atkins for Shawn Marion
This would leave a lineup that looks like this:
pg - Hinrich (guarding sg's on defense) / ac or draft pick?
sg - AI / Salmons
sf - Artest/Kleiza/Marion
pf - Marion/Nene
c - Camby/Nene
Much better defensive team. Probably a more efficient offensive team as well with Marion and Artest adding more outside shooters from more positions to spread the court for AI. I would keep Camby because there aren't a lot of centers out there I would rather have, save Bynum & Howard and they have 0 chance of being traded. None of the trades would ever happen though either.

Denver Trades: Carmelo and Stephen Hunter
NJ Trades: Richard Jefferson, Marcus Williams, #21 pick (via Dallas)
Draft picks: Brandon Rush at #20, Roy Hibbert at #21
AI/Marcus Williams/Atkins
Brandon Rush/JR Smith
Richard Jefferson/Linas Kleiza/Diawara
Nene/Kenyon Martin
Camby/Hibbert
I think that this is a better team than what you put on the floor last year, due to the addition of a pass first PG and a SF that fits into the team concept a bit better.

Marcus has been more of a scorer than passer so far in his NBA career first of all. Second, that trade would make me cry..

this isnt a thread to debate whether or whether or not this is in the nuggets best interest. Its not even about trades. Its about using the talent level the nuggets have in a better manner. This isnt real. This is just for fun. The rules of the game are to change every1 but iverson. period. if you dont wanna play, dont post

Sf.Marion
Pf.Josh Smith
C.Dalembert
Coach.Dantoni (actually have structure to the offense)
An athletic and great offensive team that can also play defense
thank you for participating the right way.
Iverson stays
JR smith gets changed to iggy
melo gets changed to marion
kmart gets changed to smith
camby gets changed to daly
thats how it works. none of this camby for calderon stuff. Its has to be a swap that makes sense. a pg for a center makes no sense. these arnt trades, they are position 1 for 1 swaps. like I said in my original post, you exchanges have to have some thought behind them.
peanut, I like your team. I just think you may wanna get some shooting off the bench. maybe use kleiza to swap for a snipper to sspread the floor

Toronto needs a Center... Rasho will never cut it. They have a disgruntled PG and one too many starting PG's. We have too many big men and Camby is on the inevitable decline. They need a Center we need a PG, thus a Calderon-Camby swap isnt a complete stupid thing to do. When you complete a trade you complete it for what your team needs, not trading SF for SF or PG for PG etc... Marion for Shaq? SF-C Bibby for Shelden Williams and fillers... PG-PF
lol not getting mad but please dont act like a PG for C trade is absolutely ludicrous and will never happen.

OMG FOR THE LAST TIME
This is NOT a trade thread
This is an activity that you do when you are bored.
There are NO TRADES involved.
You are CHANGING(not trading) the players on the nuggets to different players of similar position and skill level
Those are the rules, so yes, a pg for center sway will NEVER happen

I'll Play also.
PG Rondo/Delonte West
SG Iverson
SF Josh Smith
PF Joakim Noah
C Tyson Chandler
Note: AI is a SG..he's terrible as a PG..he's best at the SG position and better overall for the team.
We need a Defensive PG who has some passing skills
a scoring SG that can get to the line
a Rebounding and shot blocking SF
a Defensive and good offensive rebounding PF with size
a Defensive man to man 7'0 center who has good hands that can take passes in the paint when one of our players penetrate hence AI.
That's a Championship team IMO.
