I'd go...
PG: Oscar Robertson
SG: Kobe
SF: LeBron
PF: Duncan
C: Wilt
Kobe is probably the closest thing to MJ, and if he needed to would play great D. LeBron has the athleticism over Bird, and would probably frusterate Bird on offense.

What team can beat Reggie's?
My immediate though would be to swap Duncan and Russell in as the big man. Russell because if you don't need a great scorer, Russell is superior in the rest of his game. Duncan because he's not only the greatest power forward in history, he's proven to be able to be effective next to a superstar center.

People just listed the best players at each position. I'll try to create a team with good chemistry.
Nash
Jordan
Reggie Miller
Garnett
Chamberlain
-Nash is a terribly weak defender but the other 4 are very good defenders.
-Everybody on this team could run like a gazelle so with Nash running the offense, it would be once scary fast break.
-You get the perimeter threat with Nash and Miller while Jordan owns the mid range.
-Garnett and Chamberlain down low. One of the best defensive and offensive players to play the game. Chamberlain likes to stay inside and Garnett can hit the outside shot and slash. Therefor the paint doesn't get crowded up.
This would be a scary team to go up against.
-You've your slasher, Jordan.

(a) Jordan's already on the other team.
(b) Wilt wasn't exactly a gazelle, he had great speed when he wanted to but he didn't usually make any effort to hurry down court figuring (probably correctly) that it was better to save his energy and play monster minutes so his halfcourt presence and defense would be out there.
(c) Wilt and Garnett aren't any more scary down low than most of the other teams big man combinations so far.
(d)Reggie wasn't exactly Mr. Defense either, your guards don't provide much pressure and haven't the size to handle Magic and MJ

For the defensive minded . . .
Wilt (defense and scoring, pretty much a given)
Garnett (defense and rebounding . . . can drive and shoot midrange)
Havlicek (defense and off ball movement . . . outside shooting)
Moncrief (defense and ballhandling . . . superefficient slasher)
Frazier (defense and playmaking . . . doesn't balldominate, good scorer)

What team can beat Reggie's?
I'm not sure that it's possible to beat a team with Magic, Jordan, and Bird starting for it. I think this team would make it very difficult on them though. Russell and O'Neal should control the inside on defense and the rebounding action. Cooper was the only player ever to bother Larry Bird. Havlicek has the athleticism and both offensive and defensive ability to play MJ on defense and then make MJ work hard on the other end. Oscar Robertson has the size and skills to do the same with Magic. It would be up the perimeter players to nullify Magic, Jordan, and Bird as much as possible so that Russell and Shaq can abuse Hakeem and Kareem inside.
PG: Oscar Robertson
SG: John Havlicek
SF: Michael Cooper
PF: Bill Russell
C: Shaquille O'Neal

Not using any players he used:
C - Wilt (greatest center of all time, possibly the most dominant player of all time)
PF - Duncan (greatest PF of all time, has proven he can play very effectively beside a great, traditional center in DRob)
SF - Pippen (LeBron is the obvious choice, but this team already has unreal scoring, and I'd rather have Pippen as a glue guy and defender)
SG - Kobe (easy choice if MJ is gone, great d, great passing, can score from anywhere)
PG - Stockton (you want someone who can shoot the 3, play d, and distribute to all your great scorers, and Stockton fits that description perfectly)
I'd have Phil Jackson coach the team, running a triangle offense. I think this is a great, well balanced team:
- 2 bigs who dominate both ends of the floor
- 2 serious 3-point threats (Kobe and Stockton)
- 2 dominant scorers (Kobe and Wilt), surrounded by 3 very talented offensive players who would be willing to accept a lesser role
- everyone is an elite passer for their position, the ball-movement would be unbelievable, especially in the triangle
- everyone is an absolutely elite defender

Umm..
"As he did at Overbrook, Chamberlain again showcased his diverse athletic talent. He ran the 100-yard dash in 10.9 seconds, threw the shotput 56 feet, triple jumped more than 50 feet, and won the high jump in the Big Eight track and field championships three straight years."
"He was an avid track and field athlete: as a youth, he high jumped 6 feet, 6 inches, ran the 440 yards in 49.0 seconds and the 880 yards in 1:58.3, put the shot 53 feet, 4 inches, and broad jumped 22 feet."
Show me any center in our league over 7-feet that can run the 100 in 10.9 seconds and win national high-jump 3 years in a row.
Couldn't run like a gazelle, think again. Wilt was one of the most athletic, if not the most, center's to ever play the game. And don't forget he was 7-2, 275lb.
