Depends on the team; most times, I'd say Melo but if the team has the option to take Derrick Rose? Tantalizing for some.

I'd take the surefire talent. Not saying Rose or Beasley aren't going to be good, maybe great NBA players, but it's not set in stone. We know for a fact Melo is a top 15 player in this league with a high ceiling.

Give me the number one pick. I think Derrick Rose's potential is greater than that of Melo. Rose looks like he can be the next D.Wade.

Its a pretty tough decision but i would probably go with the pick because of the massive potential Rose has to contend with Chris Paul as the best PG in the NBA. Melo is a great player but he has some troubles off the court that could hurt a locker room while Rose is squeaky clean to my knowledge.

Give me Rose. Melo has shown that he can't be the #1 option on an elite team.

Beasley really made a mistake going to Kansas State...its crazy how much the tournament changed peoples mind on who the frontrunner for the #1 pick is.

I'd gamble on Rose over Melo.

Melo is 0-5 in playoffs with better supporting casts than T-Mac. Great regular-season player though.

I'd keep Melo over Beasley though.

I'd take the one who has the best chance of being a true superstar in the league ,so that would be the pick and Rose easily.

Hands down #1 pick.

Melo has shown he's a punk and not capable of leading his team. He puts up good numbers on a BAD TEAM.

If your team and supposed best player can't even attempt to play defense, then you aren't a good team.

Yes clearly the Nuggets are a bad team, you know, with their 50 wins.

Obviously they aren't the best of the crop but to call them a bad team is baffling. Would you consider the Magic a bad team? They have 50+ wins in the East, but if they went to the West they probably wouldn't even make the playoffs.

To answer the q, it's a tough choice. It comes down to Rose and Carmelo because I think Melo will be a better player than Beasley. I see Beasley as...David West meets Antawn Jamison, which is certainly good, but not the high ceiling guy I see Rose as. Even with Rose, it's hard to take him because Carmelo is already a multiple All-Star. I think I would take Rose if I was a young team because you want to start off fresh and don't really want to take 'Melo and the "baggage" he brings.

Melo has been in trouble off the court a couple times. The Nuggets have let it go. He's even had a great player in A.I. brought in to help him win and the guy still doesn't get it. Melo is all about HIS STATS. Have you seen some of the shots he takes? He's a chucker to the most extreme. He has shown zero desire to put TEAM before his own interests and his sucker punch against the Knicks (then didn't he run the length of the court to get away) showed his true cowardess. He's NOT A LEADER. He won't do the little things or make the sacrifices to make him a great player. Sure he's a decent scorer, but he's also a VOLUME scorer. He has to take a ton of shots to score. He misses so many pt blank shots.

Yes I do believe that the Nuggets were/are a bad team. They are flawed. They don't play defense at all and there isn't any kind of team concept there. They are the type of team that would get destroyed in the EASTERN CONFERENCE PLAYOFFS where a coach has 7 games to prepare and take away from their running attack. When you play a team that runs that much, your defense isn't usually geared to playing against that all the time and it takes a lot of discipline to be effective against that style. In a 7 game series, a coach can SLOW the tempo by limiting possessions and not allowing a team like Denver to get out and run.

Melo is so one-dimensional it's pathetic that he even made the all-star team. Who cares if he can score 25 a night, if he gives up 30?

Melo doesn't make his teammates better. I think Rose does.
