Rondo isn't a vet PG. He's not an all-star. And he's not going to take command of an offense and lead us to #17.

He's getting better though, he used to have an effective game every third game. Now it's almost every other and a half game with some big ones occasionally.

i dont understand the growing pains rondo is going through right now.

some of his games in the postseason have me feeling like he is on the verge... and then i feel like hes either overthinking himself or doc isnt allowing him to command the team like a real floor general, which he has to do now, whether he is fully ready or not

Don't even start this crap, we're not killing Ray Allen, Ray Allen is killing us. He has had shot after shot (wide open) and he has consistantly missed. He is flat out terrible right now. Ray struggles regardless of what Rondo does, it's not about Rondo, it's about Ray. Ray needs to step up and make some damn shots.

I've got to agree. If Ray's struggles are due to Rondo, why did Ray suck despite Rondo playing like he was Chris Paul in game 5? I've seen a bunch of open shots for Ray that he's missed that he almost always makes. Ray is struggling because he is in a bad slump and he has no one to blame but himself and I'm sure he'd admit that.

Ray has got the job done in the regular season in games which Rondo didn't play well, too. His best game (probably, first meeting with Detroit is up there as well) this year was Rondo's worst game this year--Toronto. I'm not buying jfs' theory. It's a weak excuse.

Of course, the title is hypebole and if you were om this board in the first two weeks I am poking fun at myself.

BUt, the point is YOU CAN'T trust Rondo. Consistency is more important than flashes of brilliance then complete ineffectiveness. How do we know what Rondo is going to be?

He should have been flying high in game 6, yet he was tentative. If passive rondo shows put Cassell in.

And, the lack of crisp passing on offense and terrible PG play at times is killing Ray Allen. He isn't getting open, and he isn't getting the ball in spots where he is comfortable.

It's not a theory about why Ray is struggling. IF we passed and kicked to Ray he would be much better. Also, the PG should try and get players into a rhythm. Part of Ray's struggls is he isn't an option on offense. I would run the first couple of plays Sunday specifically for Ray and try to get him off.

Rondo just needs to play better. There are too many times where Rondo disappears. I lay game 6 solidly at Rondo's foot.

Rondo can't play scared Sunday afternoon. Take it to the basket and score or dish. If he isn't going to try and be agressive, I want House or Cassell in.

Even the tenative low scoring Rondo is better then Sam Cassell at this point. Even "bad" Rondo plays some good D and is unselfish. He lost some minutes to House which was okay, in my book. But I haven't seen ANYTHING out of Rondo that would make me THINK about playing Cassell over him in the 7th game.

Nor Eddie. Ed showed some difficulty with the pressure put on the ball in CLE and may have gotten lucky wiht one or two passes but outside of that he was hitting his shots or close to it. I didn't notice any more or less defense put up against West with House in. Wich comes down to defense with potential in Rondo, potential 3 pointers with Eddie, and potential 2 pointers with Sam. Choice seems pretty clear as to the 1 and 2 option are..sadly. Cassell should be better, but then again so should Ray Allen.

Again, Ray's struggles are Ray's fault. We have kicked it to Ray, we have run plays for him and the fact is he is missing those shots. Rondo has done a fine job of getting KG, Perk, Paul and others into rhythm. There comes a point where you can't waste possessions trying to get a guy going, I think we're at that point. Ray needs to get himself going.

Ray has actually played well if you dont consider shooting. He sets guys up well when they roll to the hoop, and he defense man to man pretty well too. He's also good on the offensive and defensive glass for a gaurd and often comes up with loose balls. His shots just not falling.

Don't agree - the Ray Allen of old would be shedding Wally and throwing in amazing layups. This idea that he is Eddie House with 5 extra inches is not based on reality. It's not JUST his shot - its his first step, his lift, his game strategy that's been off.

He plays like a vet. He's capable of playing like an All Star. He should be given command of the offense. Who else should have command? Pierce? Ray Allen? Ha. KG should definitely have the ball more often, not sure if that equates to "command". This should be Rondo's offense, the offense grooves best when it is.

He's getting better though, he used to have an effective game every third game.

One effective game for every two ineffective games? You're talking about the first 2/3 of last season? Because there's no such ratio of effective-to-ineffective this season.

Now it's almost every other and a half game with some big ones occasionally.

He rarely has a bad game, once every several games. He sometimes has great games, once every several games. He's been consistently effective. All year.

Why is it always feast or famine on this board? When we win, the Celtics are the greatest thing since sliced bread. When we lose, we should trade everyone for Antoine Walker and Al Jefferson.

Seriously, we collectively need to get a grip or start taking some meds for bipolar disorder.

I'll always think you're insane when you post about Rondo. I can only imagine what it would be like it we had an actual All-star PG or a borderline one like Andre Miller this year.

Rondo is great as long as he gets to play his game. I cannot tell you how many times we have come up the court and all he had to do was attack the lane because there was an advantage and he just stops and lets the offense set up because he is deferring to the big three. And if I was 22 I would probably do the same thing. He needs to realize he needs to take advantage of every opportunity because he creates havoc for the opposition and takes their focus off there game plan and takes them out of there flow. And the big 3 seem to play better when he is attacking.

The title is also funny to me because our pg last year was Sebastian Telfair.

because you tend to summarize the opinions as many posters as one. What REALLY happens is that after a loss the people who aren't sold on some of the players, the coaches or the team or some combination of that come out with negative posts.

You read those posts and chalk it up to bipolar fans. it's not true. I am a Rondo believer. I have trust in him now. I think his bad game wasn't really that bad - and his good games have been great.

OTOH I wasn't sold by the "Kendrick Perkins is the next Ben Wallace (I told you so) posts that were up after Perkins decent run. Why? Well from day 1 I thought Perkins was too slow and plodding.

Andre Miller is the premiere ball stopper - that's why Pierce hates him. A guy like Miller can work - but not on our team.

We have guys who WANT to handle the ball - guys like Pierce, Allen and KG. You can't use a pound it into the ground ball handler like that with our kind of team.

That's one thing that's great about Rondo - a little less dribble and fiddlin then most sweet handling PGs (not to say he is perfect in that regard).

Ironically I was saw a bit of coach Karl trying to explain this idea. What we would LIKE to see the C's do is shoot, pass or drive when they have the ball INSTANTLY. It should be bang bang bang.. Then you want your other guys all moving without the ball as well.

Basically remember the Cavs offense - well the C's are supposed to be the OPPOSITE of that.

Of course Karl like Doc puts up with a bit more hesistation then they would like because they can't bench great players. But they can bench backup PGs who don't fit with the program.

But I absolutely think Paul has gotten better in this regard and now does a bit more off the ball as well.

Exactly. This is why a guy like Rondo works on this team. He hasn't been perfect and as someone said, he does seem to get a little rattled on the road, but he's still young. But I rather have a guy like Rondo, who concentrates on D, driving to the basket and setting players up, than a guy who pounds the ball, posts up other PGs and looks for his own shot first. We have a guy like that and you all know how I feel about this particular player.
