Pierce: Red was definitely in the building tonight.

Post#1 » by Big Baby » Sun May 18, 2008 11:41 pm

Paul talking to Michelle Tafoya (of ABC/ESPN) after the game about his FT with 8 seconds to go:

"Red was definitely in the building tonight. Hey, we're at home and Red is watching over us. We love it, baby!"

I'm so teary-eyed right now. Can we just retire #34 to the rafters already?

Nah, you are doing nothing wrong. I am a little mad at fans for not taking Red Auerbach seriously.

More quotes about Red from Pierce's mouth:

"The ghost of Red just looking over us," Pierce said. "I think he kind of tapped it in the right direction. It sort of put a smile on my face."

I wonder if there are still people out there who are contemplating Pierce for Maggette and Livingston type deals?

Yeah, that free throw shot is the most uncommon I ever seen. The Celtics have a plenty of strange moments in the history.

Personally, I thought that Pierce had entered the Celtic lore in 2002 when he dropped 46 in the elimination game against the Sixers, then led The Comeback against NJ in the ECF. He has just had a long hiatus thanks to Ainge's 3-year plan that turned into a 5-year plan. The wait was definitely worth it, though.
