Sit Ray Allen and Perk and start with Pj Brown and Posey!

Post#1 » by DieselCeltic » Mon May 19, 2008 11:45 am

Lets face it. Ray Allen has done NOTHING so far helping us in these 2 playoff series. His shooting is not there period. He deserves to be benched and Posey should start instead of him. Perkins. I don't even want to go there. He has done **** lately. :banghead: He needs to earn his damn minutes in the playoffs. So start Pj Brown instead of him.

Bring Eddie House as a shooting guard to play with Rondo and Sam.

We will use Cassell a lot vs the Detroit. Detroit is a better defending team than Cavs...and we remember how good Detroit is at pressuring Eddie House.

PJ Brown has one good game and you want to start him I dont know about that. You cant bench Ray stick with him and hope he comes out of the slump soon.

No need for any lineup changes. The corrections should be made to the rotations but the starting lineup needs to stay intact!

If you had said this at the start of the Cleveland series it would have made sense (except for starting PJ). Ray Allen was outsized by Wally and couldn't guard him. As he was the one guy Cleveland always doubled, he couldn't really get shots and of the big 3 he is the worst at passing out of double teams. It was a brilliant strategy that only worked because of matchups.

If Doc had started Posey and Pierce, Posey would have guarded Lebron on one end while Lebron guarded Pierce on other. In addition, either Posey or Pierce would have had a field day against Wally. Then bringing a fresh Ray off the bench as 6th man could have been a huge asset. I think that is a hard call to make for Doc as this is his first successful playoff run .... why change what worked for 67 win season? Yet, Popovic makes these changes all the time with Manu.

I just hope Doc doesn't listen to you now because that move makes no sense in this round. Rip Hamilton is too little for Posey or Pierce to guard. He would wear out Pierce and outrun Posey. PJ cannot play starter minutes and Perk actually had a very solid series even if he is an offensive liability at times.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Start Ray then pull him early. He should be the center point of the second unit. The way Ricky D used to be. So keep Rondo out there with him so Ray doesn't have to handle the ball as much!!! Just let him come of picks and curls and shoot, jesus, shoot.

Can someone tell me what is wrong with Ray Allen these days. He is not the same played like when he played for Mil. and Seatt. ? We are talking about RAY ALLEN a future HOF...and he's struggling entire playoffs

I think some of you need a DVR. Ray Allen performed well in 3 of the 4 wins against ATL and was key in the game 2 win against CLE. He has been pretty bad ever since. But he has the second highest adj +/- on the team in the postseason. He isn't hurting this team when he is on the court, he just isn't able to carry the load with the second unit so that would be about the worst thing you could do is put him in that role and take Posey out of it were he is killing it. The threat of Ray opens things up for Paul and KG.

As for Perk he wasn't as good in this series as he was against the ATL but he has been better in the postseason than he was in the regular season. While PJ has stepped on a possession here and there and a nice option late in a game he has also looked like the artifact that he is and would only look more and more that way the more he played.

i like the constant double teams ray attracts. even when hes not shooting well, it helps us swing the ball and create offense. posey won't attract such double teams.

Now how can centering the offense around Allen be bad for him? He mioght miss more shots? That isn't possible. Perkins is playing like garbage he just watches the ball sail over his head on D. Makex no attempt to jump aup and grab it. he isn't aggressive of late is perks problem.

No. You don't bench a future HOF - even if he has been struggling. I'd keep him in there. There is no reason you can't use TA or Posey to spell him some.

What's with all these genius threads? You don't bench Ray Allen. Even when he's not making his shots, the threat is there and he can spread the court.

Ray's definitely struggling and even missed a few wide open shots, but the Cavs also did an amazing job of not giving him anything. Ray just couldn't get into the game because they were playing him so tight and were doubling very hard on any screen situation.

remember its the last 5 men in the four quarter that count, if Ray isnt hitting shots and Perk is being Perk then youll see the necessary changes when it counts. Keep the starting 5 the same though.

perk should be there. ray could also be an asset in this series. i hope he comes up big though. i say we start with the same line up and be ready to insert posey for allen in the starting line up if its needed.

If Ray Allen doesn't play well against the Pistons then the Celtics won't go to the NBA Finals. Pretty Simple.

Everyone is going to have to show up against the Pistons.

Let's see who's best at chasing Rip Hamilton through the screens -- the guys with quicker feet, or the guy who understands best how to score the same way Hamilton does.

If Ray can't stay with him, I predict we'll have some Tony Allen sightings ...

Ray was chugging along at his regular season pace until the 4th quarter of game 6 in atlanta. Ray kept us in that game and all of a sudden his productivity went down drastically from that point.

Ray'll come around, he's one of the guys who got us here and he's too good to keep bricking shots. He's also part of the best team D in basketball whether people want to credit that or not. Same with Perk, his numbers may look better from one game to tte next, but he is a presence in the paint when it comes to defense, and whether he gets the boards or not he is consistent about putting a body on the other teams center, which helps everyone else rebound. As for PJ, how many minutes to expect him to play? Be glad for what he offers when he is in there but you can't expect him to perform for 30-40 minutes at this stage of his career. He does exactly what he was brought in to do, provide some size and some IQ on the second unit, you put him in for more than 20 minutes a night he'll be chasing rebounds from a wheel chair by game 3.

You can't sit Ray down now. But if Ray can't get it going, you play him less minutes. Maybe about 28-32. You also play him more with the second unit.

Besides, it's not that Posey has been playing great either. He isn't giving us any scoring and didn't play any D on Lebron. He never seemed to have a hand in Lebron's face when James was shooting.

As far as starting P.J. Brown, he had one good game. There is no way you should start him. But if Perkins continues to struggle, you reduce Perkins minutes and play Brown about 14-20 minutes. Davis also played well vs Detroit in the regular season. Davis or Powe should play more. It's good that we have some options.

But I understand your concern with Perkins and Ray Allen.
