This comes down to two team's fan bases seeing a higher value for their own players. Ultimately, I'd be shocked if an Outlaw/Blake/filler deal lands Miller...but we shall see...it's kind of out of our hands.

IMO Philly will want a starter for Miller or a reasonable chance of getting one. That might equate to 2 young prospects or a combination of a prospect & a pick. I could see Pick #13 & one of Outlaw, Frye, or Webster being combined with Blake (who makes the salaries work). This would give Philly a decent return on Miller & give Portland the PG they need for the immediate future while allowing them to combine salaries. There are other ways to make the deal work but if Portland wants to send LaFrentz & $13 & Sergio for Miller for example, they would have to take back Willie Green & the OP seems disinterested in that.

As you can see by my screen name, I am a Sixers fan. I see where you are coming from on wanting to maximize the value for your own team. But I think you are being a little one-sided. I think Portland and Philly are excellent trade partners for several different reasons. I think your team is closer to contention than ours is right now and it makes sense that they would want some veteran leadership to make that happen. I also think that Miller is a much better fit in Portland than Kidd would have been. He has more left in the tank than Kidd does and he'd be far less expensive salary wise.

However, you need to offer more for Miller than you have been. The Blazers offered quite a bit more for Jason Kidd, if the reports were accurate, and Kidd's contract was atrocious. Also, Portland needs to shed some players. Right now they have an overabundance of wealth. This is a great thing for your team, but it also creates problems. Right now you have at least three guys in Europe that you'd like to bring over (Fernandez, Kopponen, and Freeland). To do this, you need to clear not only roster space, but also playing time. Fernandez is already apprehensive about coming over since you have Roy, Webster, James Jones and Otlaw at the 2 and 3 spots. He also seems upset over the lack of PT for Rodriguez.

With Oden playing next year and Freeland coming over, where does that leave guys like Frye and McRoberts? I think your team needs to identify its core players and then make the moves necessary tokeep them and surround them with complementary players. I think it is safe to assume that Roy, Oden and Aldridge are untouchable at this point. That makes most of your other players expendable. If I were you, I think I would want to keep Outlaw. He's still young and he can play PF and SF. I don't see him as having star potential like you do, but I see him as a Robert Horry type complimentary player. I think he'd be the perfect SF for your team. He does a little bit of everything. Martell Webster, however, will soon be up for contract and I don't think he will remain in Portland. He will want pretty good money and If you keep Webster, I think Fernandez stays in Europe. I'm not saying that Paul Allen can't afford to go over the luxury tax, but I think you could spend the money better than that. I think Webster would have value for us though and would be a good component in a trade for Miller.

I think you could then add Rodriguez and Channing Frye to complete the deal. I'm not sure how good Frye really is, but he would most likely be very unhappy next season buried on the end of your bench. In Philly he could get some PT and try to prove his worth for when he becomes a FA. Rodriguez is upset now and if you bring in another PG he will only be more angry. I think he's a good pass-first PG prospect that would settle in nicely in Philly to compete with Lou Will for the starting spot.

I think a trade like this helps both teams. We would add some prospects so we can continue our rebuilding project and you would add some veteran leadership and make room on your roster to bring in the guys you've been developing internationally. If you really wanted to give us Outlaw instead of Webster that would work to, but I think that would be a mistake for your team.

I have to say that I'm impressed with the rebuilding job your team has put together in such a short time. Luck was part of it, but you also have a very committed front office and ownership. I hope we can see the same thing over here.

That is not a good trade for my 76ers. Portland only gives up excess in that trade. I want the 13th pick in the deal and Outlaw and 2 second round picks for Miller. Then take Outlaw and trade him for another ist round pick and draft a PG. Now you have 3 ist round picks + major big time power to engineer a major deal. Hey Ed Stefanski, take my proposal to the bank and cash it,lol

With a 2nd round pick the 76ers could land 6 ft 6" shooting guard Shan Foster. It's time for the 76ers to get back more in a trade, not less, which is usually the case with most 76ers fans. Get up and go 76ers!

that deal is a lot based on you guys wanting to move up in the draft, perhaps that's not a big priority for you guys though.

Moving up 3 spots isn't a big deal...if it's your pick for a future #1, then it actually means something, but swapping 13 for 16 and giving you Miller for very little isn't very appealing.

I'd rather have proven players then 2nd round picks. Outlaw,Blake, and a 1st rounder, honestly, seems like alot for Miller.

I think we would need two good young pieces in return for Miller. Either Outlaw and the pick itself(not a swap) or another player from Portland.

Miller's value around the league is not what any of you perceive it to be. He is a great veteran stop-gap, or a very good role player, but he is not a main cog to build around at this point (nor has he ever really been). I like him a lot and think he'd fit perfect as a steady vet with a competitive attitude on the blazers helping our players get the ball in the right spots and accelerating their development, but I don't think he's a near all-star player, and I don't think you give up more than one player averaging double digit points and still young for the guy, no other team would either.

We don't really know Miller's value around the league!. Fans want young guys & stars so they don't value him properly. Plus how may fans actually watched him play this year. Philly fans did. He could be the final piece on a good team for the next 3 years at a key position. That's easily worth a starter & not just role players or mid-1st draft picks. Philly will get decent value or try to move him at the trade deadline. If they don't move him then, they can always let his contract expire & have the extra money next year.

The blazers have Oden, Aldridge, and Roy...why would anyone think Miller would be a main cog coming in to build around?? If the exchange was something like Webster/Frye/Blake you are giving up one starter in Webster, who supposedly is on the fringe of being a reserve next season. The deal has to work $$ wise, so you ultimately need to put some of the young players into any deal to make it work. Raef is the only salary that exceeds Millers, but you'd also have to take someone like Green back to make the $$ work, and probably need to give the Sixers one of your Euro players and picks to make that somewhat reasonable.

Portland sends:
PF-C Raef Lafrentz
PF Channing Fyre
SG Rudy Fernadez
PG Sergio Rodriguez

Philadelphia sends:
PG Andre Miller
SG Willie Green
PF-C Jason Smith
*C Calvin Booth

*=Scrub, so it's virtually like he's holding a roster spot.

Raef Lafrentz is a big body, decent shooter. He can definately play back-up minutes to Dalembert.(offensively anyway). Sergio Rodriguez, unlike the NY and the Portlands of the NBA. I'm not the type to give up on a prospect because they had 1 bad year. Rodriguez can develop to become an NBA starter. Rudy is one of the top 5 italian-spanish players and the top SG of their international league.

you have to be kidding me? NO GM WOULD TRADE RUDY FOR ANDRE MILLER period. No one knows how good Rudy could be (and he may be dissapointing) BUT look at his averages in Europe compared with other guys who have come over. He would be a top 10 pick in the lottery this year for sure, and no one will trade you a top ten pick for Miller, much less include Frye and Rodriguez and take back your crap in Green.

Your deals haven't been much better...probably best to keep this on your own board until July 1, and then let's see what shakes out. Both sides are probably a bit high on their own players, so we'll have to see what the people who actually make the decisions think.
