So the West wasn't so bloody after all...

Post#1 » by sirgant1 » Tue May 20, 2008 8:36 am

With the Suns, Mavericks & Nuggets all whimping out, the Western conference didn't live up to it's expected playoff intensity. The Hornets played well, but the Lakers & Spurs weren't pushed as hard as most predicted the survivors of the West would be.

Had the match ups been a little different and had Golden State got in, this could have gotten a lot interesting.

Imagine..

Lakers vs Warriors
Hornets vs Mavericks
Spurs vs Rockets
Jazz vs Suns

Now none of those would have been less than 6 games.

The Nuggets should have just let the Warriors in the playoffs with their horrible performance against the lakers. Warriors vs Lakers would have been great to watch especially with all the Bay Area vs Los Angeles theme going on.

The best teams in the playoffs in order:

Lakers/Spurs/Pistons/Celtics.

Nawlins comes next to me, their inability to win game 7 at home just puts them out of discussion. Great team though just couldn't put it all together when it mattered.

Not so..

Getting to the WCF this year has been tougher for the Spurs than winning the champiobnship last year.
The Spurs have beaten two (Suns & Hornets) teams, each better than any team that Boston, Detroit, and LA have played.

Damn, I really wanted to see the Hornets advance and play the Lakers. This Spurs thing is getting old...

Na, Utah was better than the Suns. I'm sure even they would've given NO a run for their money.

The system worked out the correct way this year. The four best teams are left. It should be a very entertaining conference finals on each side.

And the east did any better? East #1 seeded team is 8-6. Now that's pathetic.

I knew the west wasn't going to be as hyped... with 6, 7 game series majority

But it was even less than what I thought, too

The Lakers, Hornets, Spurs, and Jazz were all better than the lower 4 seeds.

The four best teams are definitely remaining. I made a thread a while back earlier in the year and these were the unanimous picks (sa, la, det, bos), with some people throwing in no, dal, and pho into the mix. This is going to be a war :D

All those lower seed West teams were pretenders because they don't play any defense. They weren't build for the playoffs.
