If we end up drafting Rose, a core of Rose/Wade/Marion/Haslem would make the playoffs in the East IMO. By the same token, that core would be FAR for complete. I agree with you, we need outside shooting and someone who can defend the basket area.
I wouldn't compare next year's Heat team (with Beasley or Rose) to any of the top 4 NBA teams, but we are building and drafting either one of Rose or Beasley is the first step. More moves will come after the draft.
The idea is to become good enough to make the playoffs and somehow compete during the post season. Once you are there it will be easier to see what moves are required to join the elite. The plan is to address that in the summer of 2009.

Inside outside tandems are what works in the playoffs
Kobe/(Pau/Odom)
Pierce/KG
(Billups/Rip)/Sheed
(Parker/Ginobili)/Duncan
And where are all the 6'8, 6'9 scoring power forwards?
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

I guess that means we shouldn't have drafted Wade. All the remaining SGs are taller.
(Inside-outside wins. Deal with it!)
Clutch.

I think Detroit's efficiency is overlooked... i dont recall any other team turning the ball over less than detroit... you have to respect that.. and that can be a big reason why they most likely will the boston series... Dwade needs to turn the ball over less if he s gonna handle the rock a lot... Finals WADE is a monster tho.

Agree completely with those who point out that it takes 3 All Star caliber players to win a championship........and if Marion is on the decline the HEat will need a few moves to replace Haslem, Blount, JWill and possibly Marion in the starting lineup.
It also makes what Wade and Shaq accomplished that much more impressive.

Wait till Bynum comes back for LA. They'll have four! LO, KB, PG, and AB. That's ridiculous.

Lamar is an all star caliber player in my mind. It's not hard to justify him as being that type of player when he has never tried to be a number one scorer which is the usual all star protocol. His career numbers are strong and are comparable to most all stars. If he shot the ball more than 12.5 times, which is his career average, then he'd probably have a handful of appearances. At any rate, he's a 16 ppg scorer for his career, not bad at all. His overall game is all star worthy, no question.
Bynum has grown exponentially as a ball player and his production, 13 points/10 rebs/2 blocks/63% FG, in 35 games at 29 minutes per contest is definitely at an all star level. There is no doubt that he is the next all star center in the NBA.

Wow, did anyone else here watch the Celtics-Pistons game just now? Talk about bull$. I've never seen the strategy of fouling a team to prevent the team making a 3 used to win a playoff game.
I hate when teams foul a team thats ahead to make the team take free throws to win a game and I hate when a team that's ahead fouls a team thats behind to take free throws to win. That's not basketball.
