"Go to guy" ?

Watching the playoffs im realizing to win a championship you need 2 things that we dont have.

1. A guy the refs will call a foul for even when he hasnt been fouled.
2. That guy must be able to create his own shot off the dribble.

Looking at our team right now there are 2 people who fit that mold Hedo and Rashard. After watching us lose to Detroit i realized Hedo will never be a star enough to get the call when we need it the most. I dont know if rashard will either. Dwight is that guy but he has to have someone get him the ball and his free throw shooting is not where it needs to be to be a "Go to guy".

Being realistic we cant just get a good to great player if they are really good their team will not be trading them. Also if they are decent we Have to give up something for them (Hedo). There arent any of these type of players in free agency this year and we dont have cap for them anyway.

So my question is which of these options will Orlando Magic fans prefer?

Next year, as Rashard is stabilized into the Magic lineup, he can be expected to spot 5 or so 30 point games. Howard will also get 5 such games. None will overlap. So already, the game guys are diverse.

But let's answer the question: There's a reason Hedo Turkolgu got the nickname "Mr. 4th quarter." That Hedo is go-to is the only reason he might not be traded. (a lot of NBA SFs score 20 ppg, but few can be domnant in the last 60 seconds of a game).

Hedo is my vote.

So you are sure that the Lewis of the Sonic's era will be back. With that consider when he was with the Sonics he was their only guy to go to and that is why he scored so many points for them.

They had a couple of guys called Ray Allen and Gary Payton who were both there during his time at the franchise, both established veterans and the no.1 option on offense during their respective times. Rashard has never been the only guy to go to on a Sonics team.

Except if you checked their stats they let Lewis do all of the shooting and sometimes scoring. They were there just for the ride.

I am fine with Hedo being the go to guy. His ability to create for himself is apparent as we've seen him either take the open jumper or drive to the rim at will. Plus he can find his teammates off the penetration, which is big. I would ideally like for Howard to be that guy, and maybe he will be with the work he puts in this summer. Lewis could be that guy as well, especially if they find him on the block or at the free throw line, a la Dirk.

We need a real Go to guy in some type of trade. Rashard Lewis, and Hedo Turkoglu can't do it in the playoffs. Someone who can score 30+ like Gilbert Arenas.

There's no doubt in my mind Hedo can be that guy IF he gets a little smarter in how he goes about it. The guy has so many moves and can score from anywhere but gets caught drinking from the same well too often. Hedo beat Prince to the bucket twice in the 4th quarter of game 5, and a great defender like Tayshaun isn't about to get beaten a 3rd straight time that way. A pull up jumper, or a drive (keeping the dribble alive)-stop-pump fake would have been successful in ether game 4 or game 5's final possessions. Hedo won a Philly game that way against Iggy. Or a spin move toward the basket off the drive...Prince would be gone, Sheed either stays home on Dwight giving the open shot or goes for the block leaving Dwight open. These are all things Hedo has done many times in the past successfully, but he seems to forget them.

The other thing that would help is if he could receive the ball in different positions, not just at the top of the key. It's much harder to win an iso battle from the top of the key.

Most defenders Hedo can have his way with, but with the Princes and Iguodalas you need to mx it up a little.

Hey, I gave an "IF", that's progress, lol. I really don't know whether Hedo is capable of mixing it up in those moments or making the right choice, there's a lot of instinct involved and he may not have that.
