According to team officials and NBA general managers -- all of whom require anonymity because they cannot reveal Thorn's intentions -- the most promising discussions the Nets have had are with teams that were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
Among them: They have made some cursory inquiries with Phoenix (about Boris Diaw and Leandro Barboso), more substantive discussions with Toronto (about Andrea Bargnani), and there has been some dialogue with Denver about Carmelo Anthony.

Anybody but Carter and I could start to consider it if I was the Suns GM...

I would like Jefferson here. I think he would be the athletic 3 we need to start, and bring Hill off the bench. If we could trade barbs and Diaw for Jefferson and the #10 pick, I would do it.
vince's contract is too big, and he is getting older. M. Williams would not be bad, but is not a defensive stopper we need I think. I think it is kind of funny how people on the suns board are enamored with Sean Williams. He does not entice me as a fan that much.
In FA, I would look at Giri and Duhon. Depending on who we can get, the person I look at in the draft. So a PG or SG, and a big.
Since MD is gone, I think it is more likely that these guys get traded. I don't think Kerr likes how mentally soft they are.

No way Jersey gives up the #10 in an RJ for Diaw/LB deal. I would give up LB and Boris for RJ in a heartbeat. We would save money which hopefully would mean resigning Skinner and getting a servicable backup point guard (getting redundant, I know). I love RJ. He's from the area. It would give us an Amare/RJ cornerstone for the next 4 or 5 years. It would give us a helluva team for the next couple years. And Hill could be put back in his suited role - 20-25 minutes a game as a backup. Sign me up.
What's the problem in all of this? First off, Jersey would never do it unless we threw in the Atlanta pick. So after all was said and done, basically we gave up Joe Johnson and Barbosa for RJ. Ugh. Secondly, we better hope we sign a servicable backup point guard or cross our fingers that Strawberry can relieve Nash. Our 3 point-shooting-ability goes down again which sucks. Lastly, any semblance of depth is out the window. We better hope we stay really healthy. But when you dug yourself a giant hole and are relying on Grant Hill and Shaq to stay healthy for 82 games anyway, then why the hell not? Beats watching LB stink up the joint in the playoffs and Boris take away shots from Amare and show up every 20 games in the regular season.
Nash/Strawberry or FA
Bell/Giricek/Tucker
Jefferson/Hill
Amare
Shaq/Skinner
Looks like a solid 9 or 10 man rotation to me.

I think we threw away our shot at a good bench when we sold a bunch of draft picks and gave away KT and James Jones and let guys like Eddie House walk

Anyway, would you take RJ and Strawberry over Boris and LB? Because basically that's what it comes down to. And watching teams win with Kendrick Perkins and Oberto in the starting lineups, I think it's safe to say Skinner can give us 20-25 minutes. The LB/Boris tandem off the bench has come full circle and this is a great way to keep Hill healthy for the playoffs AND improve our team.

i would throw in the 15 for the 10 to get the deal done, there are a few good pgs who should be around at 10. westbrook and epecially augustine would be excellent behind nash. and there will be a few bigs there as well to include a much slimmed down love.
now rj would be awesome for us at sf. he excelled with kidd and kmart when they were all healthy and together. he can create his own shot and is a fairly cluth player. and hill needs to come off the bench. him going down and having no real backup at sf is what hurt us against the spurs
i just plain dont like carter
and i dont know enough about either of the williams.

BYC is a problem too in this trade. I think if you give barbs and diaw for RJ, you have to swap picks. They are younger and do not have a history of injuries like RJ does. But I dont see it happening tho. I do expect to see one of them traded this offseason tho.
HootieRules is right, we killed our bench when we wanted to save some money. We could have used KT in a trade, and JR had a solid year shooting the ball for Portland. Just bad managment. Look at how well Detriot has drafted and built a team?

---- So we have 15 this year and no second round and no first round in 09 and 10 ...
....... ecccchhhhhhh
If we deal with the nets I'd like to see Marcus Williams here. The nets had high hopes for him and then he just never got much time, and I'm another one who likes Sean W.
Or Boone ...
