Pistons (#29) trade up w/Nets, Cavs, or Wiz (#21, 19, 18)?
Here are a few trades, wonder if they work.
Pistons trade #29 and McDyess ($6.9, $7.5) for...
Nets: #21 and Stromile Swift ($6.2)
or
Cavs: #19 and Eric Snow ($7.3)
or
Wiz: #18 and Etan Thomas ($6.9, $7.4)
For the Pistons, the goal would be to move up in the draft and take back crap for McDyess. For each of these teams, it is a chance to dump a crappy player for a very serviceable PF.
Any of these seem realistic?

That's an interesting thought for the Wiz. They could use a tough reliable, rebounding big who can hit the short jumper like McDyess, and if someone like Chalmers is there at 29, I'd think they could be as well off with him as whith what's available at 18. The negative is that both Etan and McD have trade kickers, and the Wiz have to worry about the lux tax.

I like this for the Wizards.
And for Detroit, it's pretty good too. Etan will be back to 100% next season and he's an above-average backup center when healthy. He's also much younger than McDyess.
(Note for Detroit fans: There is no reason to expect that Etan won't recover from his heart surgery. Physically, he's in good shape. It's not like he is coming off knee surgery or anything. He just has to wait for his sternum to completely heal before engaging in full contact. He was practicing with the Wizards for the last month of the season but it was painful when he took any blows to the chest. That won't be a problem next year.)

Good for Etan Thomas (seriously).
I'd like to see the Pistons get a young center, and one of these trades could make that happen. It seems like there is a big difference picking around 20 instead of 29.
Pistons also have a lot of PFs, so giving up Dice to get a center makes sense, especially since he is one of our older players. He could still certainly help a team that is weak up front, like the Cavs or the Wiz.
Had to post this here - my fellow Pistons posters would beat me if I posted this thread on the Detroit board during the playoffs

Quick question, why not trade Maxiel straight up for a pick? Maxiel to Toronto for #19 is much better than Dice #29 for Etan Thomas (trash) and 18.
Is Jason Maxiel not worth a pick in the 19-23 range?
I think you could get the 18th pick from Wash for Maxiel. Detroit would also have to take Pecherov to make it work under the cap - and he has some value - so Detroit throws in either a 2nd rounder or a conditional future 1st. But I'd be surprised if Detroit trades Maxiel. Even though he's short, he's a talented young player that they should hold on to, imo.

Just wondering - Is there a specific player you think Detroit would be looking for at 18? Last year, the Pistons picked 1 ahead of the Wiz, and I think a lot of Wiz fans really wanted Stuckey.

Honestly I dont envision a lot of improvement in Maxiels game and I think he will soon be squeezed out of the rotation in favor of Amir at PF and a C (Samb, #29, FA). I just dont see Maxiel being anything more than a 6th man on the Pistons Yeah he is still young and could improve, which is why Detroit should trade him while his value is the highest.
Trade Maxiel and Torontos 2009 2nd for Wash #18 and Pechorev- Detroit grabs Joe Alexander at 18 and DeVon Hardin at 29. Detroits future core would be Stuckey-Afflalo-Alexander-Johnson-Hardin with C projects Cheick Samb and Pecherov- thats too good to pass up.
Ruzious- I dont know what player BigLip is looking into at 18 but for me it would be Joe Alexander. The kid just screams Piston to me and I think in a few years a lot of teams are going to regret passing on him.
