Pierce is playing unreal.

Post#1 » by DieselCeltic » Wed May 21, 2008 11:27 am

Pierce is playing like a true ALL-STAR should. I love how they use him to run the offense. He can get to the rim ANYTIME he wants. LeBron, Kobe and Pierce top 3 guys who can get to the rim anytime they want.

If he continues to play like this, we will have that ring in no time. Paul/KG/Ray deserve that RING more than anyone else.

Pierce is just playing the way he used to play, as a scoring machine. I think he has decided that Ray isn't producing so he needs to step up his offensive game to make up for the difference. The nice thing is he doesn't need to force his shot like he used to because he has confidence in his teamates now. If Ray can find his shot he can benefit from Pierce's passes as KG did last night. Pierce can do what Ray said Rondo had to do, getting him easy shots.

Also the nice thing is he can adjust his game. The man knows how to step up.

this is the PP we have been watching for years. remember that series with the Pacers a few years ago. He won most of those games by himself. They are going to ride him to the Finals.

I like what I'm seeing from Pierce now...he'd been pretty disappointing earlier in the playoffs but not anymore!

I don't know how he never won MVP. The years when he took entire team on his back and won the game. A lot of things can be said about LeBron and Kobe but Pierce isn't far away from those 2.

I honestly think he was trying to let everyone get involved and be a "team player". He now knows that they him PP to be PP in order to keep moving on and get the ring. Ray will come around (when they get to Detroit), but PP is not going to keep waiting around for it to happen.

I love seeing him driving to the hoop as much as he is. Power game baby!

Hey, if Paul and KG are both dropping 20 a night and collecting rebounds and playing great D, and Ray comes around, and basically they play the way they did all season, I'll be a very happy boy!

It is pretty funny to hear Van Gundy praise Paul Pierce. "I don't remember him ever being able to do these things before."

What the hell is he talking about. His passing has definitely come a long way - no doubt - but as far as driving around the pick to the basket..... what the hell has Van Gundy been watching?

All these years of wondering why Pierce was so underrated. What do these coaches do anyway? Do they just show up and yell? Do they pay any attention to the rest of the league? Does the average fan (who made Pierce's jersey a best seller when he was first named the truth) know more than NBA coaches turned commenatator?

Pat Riley certainly knew what Paul Pierce was all about. He spent years trying to steal him from Pitino.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I think Pierce worked hard and became a more complete team player this year, but it has taken him until the last 2 games to really get how to play within the team concept, help make his teammates better--and carry the team offensively when he has to.

I couldn't be happier for the dude or the team. If they make it to the finals and he can resist that kind of mano-a-mano duel stuff with Kobe, I think he will come away with the MVP for the C's long-awaited #17.

Well the last time Pierce scored, with this efficency, was probably back when Antoine Walker was still a legitimate 20-point a night scorer.

Pierce is playing his heart out. Pierce knows the opportunity he has this season and he isn't going to let it slip away. Pierce is going to carry the Celtics as far as he possibly can. Pierce has fire in his eyes. Gotta love it.

JVG is just developing the appreciation that can come from REALLY watching a player - rather then just highlights. You would be surprised alot of these coaches watch their only team mostly.

I don't really agree with JVG about PP not be able to do those things before. He always could do them. He is playing a little "tighter" now but those things good and bad that he does are still there.

Paul Pierce is playing incredible basketball right now

every decision he makes with the ball is the right one, vene if it turns into a turnover like a few of his passes yesterday, the idea was right the other player just wasn;t in the right position (kg, and pj brown come to mind)

I hope he can continue this level of play, because weneed him to in order to win a ring

Detroit really has no one to stop him if he decides he's going to the hoop every time he touches the ball. Prince is a good defender, but he's not strong enough to cover Pierce. Pierce has just abused him, forced the help D to commit to him and then dished the ball (first it was to Big Baby in DET, last night was dishing to everyone) to get his teammates good shots.

I'm expecting a huge series from The Truth.

The thing is, historically Pierce has always played well in LA.

He was the MVP when we played against DET this year and historically he's played great in LA this could be a bigtime party for him if the Celtics can previal in the playoffs.

I wonder how Pierce would do guarded against Lamar Odom though. He's long and has just as much strength as Pierce but more length.

Pierce can shut down Lamar offensively I bet like Prince, but we need an top tier all-star below MVP level Pierce if we faced LA in the playoffs to win.

Pierce has never played as well all game at both ends of the floor as he has for the past couple of games. He's been as good on offense before, or even a little better. He's been as good on defense in spurts. But he's never been this wire-to-wire good.

I noticed that too. It's like JVG thought Pierce has never ever played on this level before.

The ignorance of some people.... I think he really hasn't seen Pierce play other than this season.
