Gambling is a powerful addiction. He has to enter a treatment program for addiction if he wants to stop gambling, otherwise his proclamations of giving up gambling are basically worthless IMO.

Yeah, that's like him saying he's going to lose weight. He probably went off to gamble that same night.

It'll be easy for him to stay out of casinos if he's really committed to staying out. All he has to do is go to the casinos and sign papers stating that he doesn't want to be allowed in the casino because he has a gambling problem. This can be done by any person who has a gambling problem.

That would sole his problem of gambling in casinos, but obviously there are other places one can gamble

Hemingway wrote:a thousand bucks says he is gambling again within a month.

No question about it. When he talked about his gambling problems he mentioned how much fun Vegas was, so you can bet your ass he'll be back there. The second he steps foot into Vegas his "promise" will be shattered. He'll get a drink or two in him, then a few hired hookers will come along to encourage him to have a good time and he'll be right where he was before -- gambling his wealth away. The folks that run those casinos aren't idiots, and they know just how to get you right where they want you, assuming you have the money to spend.

Besides that, he couldn't even get his "promise" straight. First he said he would never gamble again, then he said he would not gamble for a year or two, then he went back to saying he would never gamble again -- EVER. He's full of crap.

First thing that comes to mind is when someone says "I'm never going to drink again..." when they're hungover
