what are the opnions on Gallinari. I don't know much about him personally but seems very intriguing. how does he match up against Lopez as far as value

Well it took me forever to read through all 9 pages of this thread but I'm glad I did. I watched the draft lottery last night I just went crazy once I knew we got into the top 3. After it was over I was thinking well at least we get OJ Mayo...then I thought, "if we take Lopez, it'll take me months to recover."

Jon, thanks to you the margin between OJ and lopez isn't as big. I'd still prefer mayo just not by as much and wouldn't be upset with us taking lopez either.

P.S. All this "negativity" about mayo got me doubting but a quick trip to youtube cured that all up.

Yep. Still convinced. Or maybe he's the third Lopez twin that in 7th grade decided volleyball was going to be his sport and not basketball. Now he's kicking himself.

In all seriousness, Jon. Your viewpoint is always welcome here. Lopez at 3 is a respectable opinion, it's just that your opinion seems to attack any criticism towards Lopez whatsoever. If I agreed with everything you said, Lopez would hands down be the #1 pick for the Wolves, let alone #3. Can you at least admit his game has flaws?

Why not draft Mayo and trade for an already established big like Emeka Okafor? You never draft for need with a top 3 pick in the draft, it's a huge mistake. We have a lot of tradeable assets and 23 mil coming off the books next year. Brook Lopez will be a solid player, but he doesn't fit next to Big Al as well as Mayo fits next to Foye. You need to have patience, take the best player available and wait it out until you can trade or sign the best center available.

From an article or two I read, he's got a goofy sense of humor, collects Disney figurines, wants to write comic books (with Robin illustrating them).

Here are a couple of off beat things I've read:

When Brook was in high school, he sang a Britney Spears song to audition for a part in Westside Story.

In an art class, he slathered his forearm in red paint, then slammed down the arm of a paper cutter and screamed, scaring the teacher half to death.

according to Britt Robson McHale fell in love with Gallinari.

btw, the Mayo incident does not bother me as much as Beasley's laundry list,or Lopez' weirdness.

Will (banks=unc) speaks for Mayo and says he is a good guy
Hoiberg will ask Floyd and we will interview Mayo to see where he is.

You see Lopez having a goofy sense of humor and interests outside of basketball as bigger red flags than Mayo's possible entourage, potentially jeopardizing his college team's success by taking money and gifts, and not having learned to avoid being in the wrong place at the wrong time despite being in the public eye (as the marijuana arrest showed)?

Well, I really see neither as a true problem. Neither makes me throw them out of bed. But the Lopez thing is different than just having interest outside of basketball. The term "atypical" reminds me of Ebi. It just concerns me.

I am basically neutral in the Lopez/Mayo debate. I am cool with either.
