MN / LAC
Been a long day at work, so this probably wouldn't make sense and would screw up our roster balance and no one would like it..... but....
LAC in: #3, a 2nd rounder this year, and McCants
Min in: #7, returned 1st round pick, Thorton
Probably a no go on clips side with Thorton, no idea if he is 3 or 4 for us, but a twist on what was out there before of #3 for #7 and 1st round pick return.

No chance that the Clippers do that trade. They are very high on Thornton, and rightfully so.
Thornton and and the returned 1st probably is equal to #3, no way that McCants and a 2nd gets you #7.

I'd consider this...
With Clippers
#3 and #31
for
#7 and Thornton
then do this...
With Nets
#7 and future 2nd
for
#10, #21, and #40
Then draft...
#10 - Anthony Randolph
#21 - JaVale McGee
#34 - Bill Walker
#40 - Nathan Jawaii
Roster afterwards...
C - McGee/Jawaii
PF - Jefferson/Randolph
SF - Thornton/Gomes/Walker
SG - Brewer/McCants
PG - Foye/Jaric
Young, talented, and most of our guys can play multiple positions.
Or just take Mayo and watch him put on a clinic.

Again, I blame fatigue; but the idea was
#3 (Mayo) > Thornton (was he around #12 or #15?)
McCants < #7 (Gallinari/Randolph?)
and if included obviously
#31 < Our 1st rounder returned
Though not sure what the value is moving up 4 picks to the #3 in this draft and if the pick return over shot the value of the move up or what else possibly had to be tweaked.
But aside that, I do like Mayo a bunch for this team. Just fun to throw (semi) reasonable trades out there and think about things.

Livingston looks like he's ALREADY recovered.

I don't agree that Foye compliments Mayo "perfectly." I think that a true PG, our pick back, and whoever we'd get at #7 would be better for this team than Foye/Mayo.
Essentially, Livingston #4/Gallinari #7/Future 1st round > Foye #7 /Mayo #3 IMO.

Winter, the previous deal that all three teams got behind pre-draft was:
LAC GIVES: #6, Tim Thomas, MIN future 1st returned
LAC GETS: #3, Jaric
WAS GIVES: Etan Thomas, future top 19-protected 1st (MEM)
WAS GETS: Tim Thomas
MIN GIVES: #3, Jaric
MIN GETS: #6, Etan Thomas, future 1st returned, future top-19 prot 1st (MEM)
In the mean-time, Mayo has gained value according to sources that have talked to him and watch him play. At the same time, LAC's pick slipped from 6 to 7, which I think is a decent drop.
I also think Foye > to >> Livingston, so it goes the wrong way, imo.
I'm starting to get attached to Clinic, so I'm not even sure I'd still move down to the 7th, even if we got a year off Jaric and two future 1sts. MIN needs a superstar to pair with Al, and Mayo at least has that chance to become one. I would definitely not include Randy Foye in the deal at all.

MayorHoiberg, if you dont think Foye is the perfect compliment to Mayo then you are one crazy guy. Im pretty sure I have read a number of your posts and it seems like you are very anti-Foye. If we acquired Livingston, who is not considered a scorer AT ALL, that would be one less weapon to take pressure from Al and Mayo.
I dont see Livingston ever cracking the top 5 assist leader in any year, add to the fact that he is recovering from a devastating injury and may be considered injury prone. Plus he isnt a scorer, nor is an above average rebounder and I just dont see why we should fall back AND lose a better player (Foye) in the process.

It feels good to know someone read my posts.
I guess I have posted a couple anti-Foye things, but I'm not against Foye as a player. I can certainly see the knocks people have on Livingston. He isn't a scorer by any means, but he was drafted 4th and he has certainly shown to be that pass-first kind of player that I want next to Al.
Problem is, I guess, that I havent seen one sign that Foye is anything but an undersized SG. I would love it if he could be the point, but man, i just don't see it.
Interesting backcourt though, Foye and Mayo... both *kinda* point guards, both can score... I do see what you mean there.

Lol, I understand where you are coming from, but I'm watching the league change drastically the past few years and I look at this years playoffs. These are the PG's I see
Parker
Billups
Fisher/Kobe
Deron Will.
CP3
Nash
Alston
Nelson/Dooling
are all scoring type PG's. You could even throw Bibby in as well as B.Diddy who almost made the playoffs. Now lets look at the others
Kidd
A.Carter
A.Miller
Ford/Calderon
Rondo
D.West
A. Daniels
None of these players, except perhaps Calderon and West, score first guys, and out of all of them Rondo and West were the only ones to advance past the first round, Rondo had a three headed monster to save him, and West has perhaps the best thing since sliced bread and a VERY favorable first round matchup.
The league now needs scoring from the PG position to be effective, unless you have 3 former all stars of course, which we dont. This is why I dont see Livingston as a proper fit. He will find ways to get Al the ball yes, but he cant take any of the pressure off of Al to do all the scoring, Foye can. He is built like a Semi and can penetrate, and we are seeing his mid-long range shot come around quite nicely. I like Livingston and I hope he comes back 100%, but I want to see him come back as a Clipper, not a Wolf.
