Building a team around Monta = bad bad news

Post#1 » by Abyss Impact » Sat May 17, 2008 11:10 pm

Because once we make the playoffs, Monta Ellis will disappear and we will lose the first round.

Monta will be the next Tracy.

I'd say we should build the team around the bigs in Wright and Biedrins.

Thoughts?

But if we build around Pietrus, then we'll be probably getting a ring soon.

I thought this was a joke until I read the comment about Pietrus and now I'm convinced this is a joke. Funny!

Can't build around Monta but hopefully we can build around Monta, Biedrins, Wright.

Your crazy, Monta will ball hog trying to think he can shoot his usual mid range jumpers and Biedrins and Wright won't get many touches.

Biedrins and Wright is first priority, Monta will probably be third or fourth.

Let's build around Pietrus. That way can be assured to get a high lottery pick the next 5 years.

Build around Pietrus?

Yeah..it sounds absurd, but from one angle, Pietrus-Azubuike,Wright,our 08 picks and whoever else is here beyond the main 5 will be real important. The main edge we have is speed and Pietrus+ Azu add a lot of that,while,ideally-letting us not over-run the starters until they Don't have any speed left and are reduced to chuck + luck.

It's variable. Pietrus probably exits---sees better $$$ and opportunity elsewhere. If so...does Belli step up? Does Barnes figure next year? Do we score a low $ MLE bargain or luck out rd 2 or with a camp invite?

Dude, nobody can replace a Pietrus. His hustle, his heart, his corner threes. Its sad that because he is gone, Nelly won't trust anybody else, and will probably find ourselves in the lottery once again next season.

Do you really think Belinelli can step up after not seeing playing time? No, you will have to deal with rookie mistakes like last season, because of limited playing time which will cost us crucial games leading into the playoffs.

Ummm...the sad thing is Pietrus hurts the Warriors in critical moments and will do so even in his 4th 5th years....He's flat out one of the worse fundamental players in the league. Can't shoot beyond his flinging....can't dribble EVEN right handed....horrid at the FT line....is turnover BEGGING to happen....

Pietrus is GONE...please lord....Warriors need to bring in another player for THAT role...but a player that doesn't also cost us games....

My only problem with Monta is that the Warriors will HAVE to have at least one defensive stopper to offset Monta's defensive liability. Right now it's Jackson....

Imagin a team with Baron, Monta and Dunleavy...for example...and you can see a team even WORSE defensively...

Now maybe Monta becomes a true Wade type point guard...able to score and run a team a bit.... But right now I'm not sold....

Hmmm..I wonder what Monta's value is around the league....?

Pietrus was playing his best ball of the year...then he got hurt and the Warriors missed his play.

Pietrus is a good player and id want him to return at around 4-5M a season.
Lets Go Baron Davis...i dont care what jersey you put on. Lets go.
Big Smooth is focused and ready to handle the centers of the league.
Curry and Ellis will be a top 5 back court this season. 6/25/2010

Monta is a piece of a puzzle. The best he can be is Tony Parker.
Pietrus could be SA Bowen if he gets smarter.

Hey did you guys see Monta tonight... it was a basketball roundtable on I guess channel 7 after the Celtics/Pistons game (Matt Barnes was on, too).

Monta says he wants to be a Warrior for a long time. But more interestingly he sounds like the way the season ended is really nagging on him. I hope he's taking that to heart and getting ready this summer.

Pietrus doesn't have the defensive intensity that Bowen has. He's plays hard, but he doesn't quite have that "I'm gonna shut you down" mentality. That's what makes great defensive players.

The Clippers would make a nice offer for Monta. Some combination of Kaman, Maggette, #7.

He had a lot of work to do covering for both Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson, who were useless to close out. Now he has to work hard to ignore the b :censored: ing from Baron as he takes the team over with Biedrins and Wright this year.

He also needs to work on his defense, point guard skills, and 3 point shot.
