I figured out this years draft conspiracy!

Post#1 » by farzi » Thu May 22, 2008 6:33 am

So everyone knows that West > East. The only argument against this is that the east has 2 elite teams...but lets face it, the conference as a whole is pretty bad.

Enter 2008 draft.

Last year Bulls and Heat were playoff teams.

This year they both struggled.

The decision to send the top 2 picks east was made long ago, but who to?

Bulls and Heat are both 1 big name player away from becoming relevant again, and become playoff contenders. Who else out there is just rose or beasley away from being good?

These 2 players will help (not fix) the imbalance between the leagues, and will bring 2 larger markets back into the money making fold.

OMG I DID IT

You want a conspiracy? Watch Wade's reaction to the Bulls getting the top pick overall. He smiles and clinches his fist, as if his own HEAT had won the draft lottery. The first hand he shakes is the representative from the Chicago Bulls. Anyone think Wade bolts for Chicago when he's a free agent?

uhh... Wade clinched his fist because the heat got want they wanted, a top 2 pick. He shook the rep from the Bulls to congratulate them for winning the lottery. What you failed to mention was that Fred Hoiberg of the Wolves shook hands with the Bulls rep first.

Why the hell would Wade want to go back to Chicago besides that's his hometown + his kids are there?

-The Heat can pay him the max
-Florida weather + no state income tax
-In order for the Bulls to actually have a shot at signing Wade they'd basically have to strip the cupboard bare... where will the cap space come from when it's pay day for Gordon, Deng, Thomas, Noah? The last two won't be earning a rookie salary forever

That's kinda the whole reason for the draft you know.

I think this board as a whole is really bad at recognizing sarcasm.

:nonono:
Lets say Deng signs 5/60 this year, he'll be around 11mil in 2010.
Gordon won't be here with any luck.
Thomas and Sefo sign for 8mil starts each we'll say (that's their 1st year)
Noah WILL be on his rookie salary then
Hughes expires
Hinrich is gone, in favor of maybe Webster + another rookie contract.
We'll say Webster is at 8mil start too to be generous.
Hopefully Noc leaves with Hinrich
Rookie salary's from draft...
Now take into account if we were signing Wade we'd probably let one of Webster or Sef go.
We'd be under 40m total.

Wow... just wow. I don't know if I should make fun of this because maybe I'm missing something?
