Whatever happened to....

Post#1 » by Celtics_Champs » Thu May 22, 2008 2:34 am

the old days when people used to wait overnight, in the rain and cold weather, waiting to purchase tickets?

The answer is the celtics organization stopped it.

I don't know if anybody else saw this, abc's local news did a story on how all these die-hards were waiting to get celtics game 1 tickets. And what the organization did was they passed out raffle tickets and did a raffle. Is it just me, or is that complete bullsh*t?? I mean, it just gives rich **** bandwagon fans another great chance to get seats. You wouldn't see a suit waiting in line overnight, but you could see him stroll up to the window when they are handing out raffle tickets, and win.

Just like the bulls and the lottery, this is bullsh*t in my opinion. If the celtics were to make the finals, I would have definitely waited overnight to get tickets. But now, I am forced to overspend on stub hub.

Shame on Celtics Organization for taking the die-hards out of the ticket race.

For every diehard standing out in the rain for tickets, there are 10 scalpers / ticket brokers. That's why they instituted the policy, so that regular fans *would* have a chance at tickets. Or at least that's the official position.

Good point, which I did not think of. But I still feel it is not right.

I hate ticket brokers. Man do they overcharge for everything. I don't know if the prices go down when the game gets close. But, I believe it was Ace Tickets, I saw were charging 110 for the very last row in center field (under the scoreboard.) in fenway park for a sox-yankee game which really had no importance because the sox were basically pulling way. That seat probably costs 10-20 dollars at face value :dontknow:

Heh. I went to a White Stripes concert - where you had to wait in line and then they took down some ID information of yours and gave you a voucher. Then you could only get into the concert once they checked your ID and voucher and you could only bring one guest.

Something like that would allow die-hard fans to get tickets. Though I doubt the C's want to go to that much trouble especially with about 10x more fans.
