State of your pick

Post#1 » by LiSTWithLani » Thu May 22, 2008 4:37 am

Hey I'm a Toronto fan and am interested if you guys would likely be using your pick or if you'd go for a deal that had you giving up a pick now for one in the future - as we've seen recently in phoenix.

If #15 can be bought - or traded for low-salary expirings then I think Toronto would be all for it.

thanks for the info

i dont see it happening with a pick as high as 15 with us getting a new coach who is more likely to want to use the bench also

if you wanted #15 a proper deal would be required

whats delfino worth to you guys?

Toronto has several attractive players.

Delfino would be great here.

Moon would as well, but less than Delfino I feel.

Doubt we could swing Calderon, but he would be amazing along side Nash.

I am more curious what the guard situation will be like in T-town this post-season. I can't tell what exceptions the Raptors have at their disposal, but it appears that Calderon, Delfino and Moon are all needing to be resigned. The Raps have Ford under contract for two more years and Calderon has said he wants to start.

That leaves at least one, if not two guys outside looking in.

If #15 can be bought - or traded for low-salary expirings then I think Toronto would be all for it.

Which team wouldn't be all for that? If I could trade no-talent bench-warming expirings for draft picks I would as well.

Can't imagine PHX would give up a draft pick for expirings... I don't know if that even makes sense. I also sincerely doubt we are going to sell this one away. The only way the #15 leaves us is if it's in a trade package.

I honeslty think we are going to get two players from different teams this year. Take your pick of any two.

NY - Lee
CHI - Heinrich/Thebo
TOR - Delfino/Moon
MIL - Villaneuva
GS - Pietrus/Barnes
CLE - West
DEN - Smith

All of these guys are attainable with the peices we have or through simply signing them to the MLE this offseason.

Do you really think Sarver is going to allow Kerr to use the MLE?

Especially if we keep the #15 pick that is delusional to say the least...

LOL @ the Suns using the MLE. We sold our draft future to save from going $6 million over the LT last season. Now, you think Sarver will let Kerr go out and use the MLE to put us right back there again?

Here's what we will do:
1. Sign one of Skinner/Giri to the minimum (I think one will take it with Mike D gone). (@ 10 guys)
2. Sign # 15 (11)
3. Sign our 2nd round pick. (12)
4. Try to trade Barbs for a legit 2-guard who can shoot and defend. (still 12)
5. sign a min FA who will play - prob a backup PG (13)
6. sign two young and cheap scrubs from the summer team (14 and 15)

That, my friends, will be your 2008-09 Phoenix Suns. No MLE, no big trades, no monster draft moves. At best we're swapping Barbs for a better 2 guard. At worst, we're adding a number 8 guy to the rotation (#15). Anyone who thinks we will do anything more in FA is kidding themselves.

That said, I'm somewhat excited at seeing some younger guys worked into the rotation next season. 3-4 of Tucker, Straw, #15, our 2nd and maybe one of the two summer guys have a chance at getting some PT.

I am sorry, but I think the #15 pick is worth more than DefiNO and Moon.

There are some FA that will be out there, but I do not expect to see Sarver dropping the MLE on someone. Wont happen. The FO will ride these vets, make money and then start to rebuild in 2010 season.
