Here is the Orlando Sentinel's list of their sports columnists. Apparently they don't think Dee Gugel is one of their reporters. The only relationship I can find between DG and the O.Sen. is that they include a blog by this person in the huge list of blogs on their website.

Did you read that blog (not you mamma. i'm talking to cougar)? It said it's not going to be about the Magic much -- but about NBA stuff. It said to go read Brian Schmitz's blog to find out about the Magic.

Also, most sports reporters are different than columnists. Reporters are usually more straight forward. Columnists are supposed to express opinions. At least that is what I learned in junior high.

I would think that Duhon will take like half of MLE. As for the SG spot I'm really hoping for CDR and re-signing Evans and we still have Redick on the bench to get a shot. But I really want CDR..he can very much develop to are starting SG and be a very damn good player.

I do not want to wait 2 years to get a good back-up PG.

I don't know about that. Duhon didn't make much less than Dooling this season. Duhon was paid $3.25 million.

Foremost the Magic need help in the 4 slot not a SG. Howard needs help on the boards he is getting that kind of help from Lewis (who is not a banger) or Hedo.
Wasting their draft pick on a SG one just be another sign that the Magic don't draft well, but if they go after a big banger who can run the court that would be great. Battie just can't run the courts the SVG wants his team to run. It would be better to trade Battie and this pick for a higher pick throw Bogans in for a second round or two as well.

We wouldn't be wasting a pick if we got a SG @ 22. Right now we have three 3rd string guys at that position which clearly means we could improve if we strengthen that position, particularly on the defensive end. I say we just ship all 3 of those guys out reload.

As far as PF, we got to do better there too, but Shard, Battie >>>> Evans, Bogans, JJ.. I like the idea of using the MLE, LLE, and the #22 on guards..... We should try n package a combination of JJ + Cook + Bogans + Fran + maybe even a future 2nd or two to the cause of getting ourselves a solid big for the future. We can afford to lose all of those peices while still building on our core and not missing a beat. I like the idea of getting Haslem or even Lee for that package, but if that's not possible, we could just use them to move up n grab a big like Speights, Aurthur, or maybe even Love if he falls a bit. I couldn't complain with that.

Frontcourt:

Howard/Gortat/Battie
(*Haslem, Lee, Arthur or Speights*)/Battie/Cook
Lewis/Turk/Aurthur

Backcourt:

MLE(*Pietrus or Childress*)/Turk/(*CDR or Rush*)
Meer/Jwill/Dooling

If the rookies(or Trade Aquisition) we get can give us any kind of solid, positive production, this team could do serious damage in the East..... And also, If our MLE or rookie SG show alot of promise and playmaking ability, Hedo then becomes expendable(at least, alot more-so then he is now), allowing us to package him for future picks or maybe another impact player if we chose to further strengthen the team.

With that said, I say it would be best to hold onto Hedo for now until we see what our new aquisitions are capable of(unless we just get an offer we cant refuse, of course). We will be fine next year as long as we play it smart, trim the fat by getting rid of the JJ's, Cook's, and Bogans' of the team to move up in the draft, or get a better player such as Haslem/Lee. If we could somehow just do those simple things, i would be more then happy with Otis. No need to do anything drastic or stupid like trading Meer for tinsely, or trading multiple 1st rounders and assets, for Haslem. It would be nice to make a few moves but not at the expense of our future, or risking potentially devastating chemistry moves. Just a few moderate changes are more the fine by me..... Grabbing an extra pick, & simple moves like that can be all we need. We are just 1 or peices away from being a great team, no need for an overhaul just quite yet. :-?

The Magic would improve by just by getting someone to fill Garrity's spot who can actually help the team on a regular basis.

I don't agree with whoever said that bangers are a dime a dozen, though. Practically every team is looking for a quality one, and few teams have them. There are a lot of power forwards, but a lot of them don't want to do the dirty work. I'd actually be willing to bet that you could find more shooting guards who could average 16 ppg than you could find good bangers.

I wouldn't worry about the mock drafts, though. They rarely are right about the Magic. A very few mock drafts have gotten the Magic lottery picks right -- and mostly then only when they changed the pick right before the draft.

Yep and when Brian goes on vacation again and again she takes his place like she did last time.

I said that SG's were a dime a dozen that Bangers (not the Banger Sisters) good ones are hard to find and that wasting the Magic pick on a sg when the Magic badly need a PF/C is a poor choice.
Some people posting here think that the Magic can get a older vet PF and that would solve the problem for the Magic and I say that a younger PF who can run up and down the court and bang the boards and score some and play a lot of defense is what the Magic need. Someone who will be on the team for a while not just one year.
Some have been posting that the Magic should sign Kurt Thomas with the vet's min and use the draft pick on a SG.
I say it should be the other way around. Next year if they still think the team needs a long term SG then use that draft choice, by then the team will have worked their new PF into the team's chemistry.

They will probably give him a 3 year 4 million a year deal, then sign Williams to the VE, suring up our depth at the PG slot.

As far as SG goes, I expect the Magic to keep JJ, Bogans will be back as well and they will most like sign a SG for the MLE, unless they trade Hedo for one.

Basically I think that is what Dooling expects. But of course he will test the FA market to see if there is more than 12-15M to be found.

Also, if Dooling starts at 4M, he will probably go 4, then 4.5, then 5. This proposed US$14 million would be an extension to his last career contract that was basically similar. In the end, if this happens, Keyon will have earned around 30M from his basketball career. Not bad for a career backup!

Yep, although I'm still for a backcourt upgrade first, it's not like we got destroyed all year in the paint. But a younger PF who can develop some chemistry (and game) over the years is a better choice. Remains to be seen if Otis and co. are able to pick one in the draft or with trades, it's not like they have an excellent track record
