ESPN -
Houston Rockets assistant coach Elston Turner has interviewed for the head coaching vacancy with the Phoenix Suns , according to The Associated Press.

Turner, 48, has been an assistant in the NBA for eleven seasons.

He informed a local television station in Houston that the Suns will contact him next week if he's going to be invited back for a second interview.

Turner is know for his defense, something that general manager Steve Kerr is trying to improve upon in Phoenix

Kerr is not gonna hire someone with no head coaching experience.

JVG is totally the opposite of what the Suns had been doing in the past 4 years

I think what he meant is if the Suns want a defensive coach they should go after one of the best in JVG.

Shaq came up 2nd in MVP voting under SVG, he actually played great under him, and from what I can remember they got along great. Not to mention both are two totally different coaches with different personalities.

Actually, it is pretty much the other way around. He is only interviewing two guys with head coaching experience (Terry Porter and Phil Johnson). Other than that he is looking at assistant coaches. From all indications, Turner will probably make it to the second round of interviews.

Can you guys tell me more about him? He seems like an intriguing candidate.
