this game was very similar to suns/spurs game 1 this year, spurs won't fall apart quite as much, but its not a good sign when you blow a 20 point lead in a low scoring game

lakers will score 100+ in 2 or 3 games this series, the spurs will have a tough time winning any of those

In the midst of the Laker comeback Duncan had two opportunities @ the top of the key, elbow whatever you call it. wide open where he could have shot a jumper or drive on gasol, draw a foul. What does he do? pass to Udoka?

If he had a Killer instinct he should have silenced the Laker crowd by hitting a jumper or driving on Gasol. You step on their throats. Call Kobe's quote "I can get off at any time." conceit, But that's killer instinct. That's swagger. Just my 2 cents.

First game: 17 pts, 6-12 shooting
Second game: 14 pts, 5-17 shooting
Third game: 12 pts, 3-16 shooting
Fourth game: DNP
Fifth game (game 1 of WCF): 10 pts, 3-13 shooting.

I hope the point trend continues! Obviously the Lakers have figured out a way to trouble Ginobili.

17 pts on 12 shots isnt bad.

one of those games, parker and duncan were both out (i think the 2nd)

and i think the 3rd, was towards the end of the rodeo road trip and was the last of a brutal stretch of close games.

and now, the ankle and finger injuries. he will probably have a difficult time the whole series, but i'm skeptical its because of the lakers having figured him out. i dont recall anybody calling vujacic a manu-stopper in the reg. season.

anyways it was a painful loss but the spurs showed they can score and defend against these lakers. looking forward to a very hard fought series

Make fun of the Spurs at your own peril. It is not wise. Just when you think they are down, they rise up

I am well aware of what the spurs are capable of. That's the reason why I don't make asinine comments like the Manu = Kobe statement. But if you put yourself out there and do make a comment of that caliber. You got to be prepared for the fall out when it doesn't come true. No one is knocking the spurs ability. I fully understand that we should of lost yesterday and this series is no where close to being over. Vice versa Spurs fans shouldn't ever doubt Kobe's ability. As proven yesterday.

Lakers are the superior team. The Spurs time is up; the future is now; it's the rise of L.A

The Lakers stole Game 1. We were winning the entire game. We had the game in our grasp. I'm confident that we can take this series. I think New Orleans was the toughest team we played in the playoffs. They are better than the Lakers. We will win the series in 5 or 6. I know it.

Good post right here.

Lakers shouldn't get cocky but it was good win for the teams psyche. They didn't fold and even though Kobe is getting a lot of the credit for the 2nd half it wasn't just him. Pau finished on those alleys from Kobe. Sasha played some good defense on Manu. Lamar did have sub par game, in fact you could say he played poorly but he did make a crucial basket at the end.

That lineup of Fisher/Sasha/Kobe/Lamar/Gasol is pretty deadly. Two good 3pt shooters and Kobe with a nice frontline. That's a nice closing squad.

What I really was looking forward to was seeing Ariza. I think the deficit kept Trevor on the bench but I'm hoping Phil gets him in this series. I want to see his athleticism and defense.

This also was good for Kobe because even though he was bragging saying that he can get off anytime, I liked the shots he was taking. It wasn't just him going nova from the outside. He was getting by Bowen and forcing Duncan to help. Kobe didn't settle, that's where he is so much better imo not settling in the playoff's......
I'm so tired of the typical......

also you should prepare yourself if it does come true. remember that was only one game out a possible 7 games. I as a Lakers fan do think that there is validity to the Manu=Kobe statement in the sense that when Manu is healthy his impact on any particular game is just as great as Kobes impact. now that is not to say that manu=Kobe on a one on one situation or that Manu skills are on par with Kobes.

I am not looking at the Spurs lose as the Spurs choked, I am looking at it as Manu had a bad game because he was hurt therefore the Spurs lost.

i think it will be very tough for the spurs to win 4 in a row against the lakers, they don't have any way to slow kobe down when he goes into attack mode
and fisher and lamar will improve as the series goes on, which will be more weapons the spurs have to deal with, its going to be very tough
thats why i think this series goes 7 games

The Lakers don't have anyway to slow down Duncan when he goes into attack mode and Parker and Ginobili will improve as the series goes on, which will be more weapons the Lakers have to deal with.

Our offense sucked. We need to score more if we want to win which I am confident that we can do. Ginobili and the role players need to step up. Duncan and Parker carried the team for the most part. I think we did an effective job defensively.

I like Oberto working in the Low post while Duncan has the ball at the elbow

i'm not sure if ginobili can improve very much, some stats i have seen of his games against the lakers this year aren't very good
but the lakers didn't play a good game either, and if the lakers get their offense on track i don't think that the spurs have the firepower to match them

the Lakers did slow duncan down in the 4th when it matter didn't they? just as I have a lot of confidance on Pop to make the right adjustments for the next game I have the same confidance in Phils ability to come up with a plan to to take out the Spurs.
if you think about it the Lakers let TD score one on one Gasol on purpose most of the game. they wanted to take out the Spurs perimeter shooters out of synch so they let TD go wild on Gasol. then late in the game when TD had to kick it out because of the double team the shooters didn't execute. that was by design.

i agree with the lakers stealing game 1, although a choke job by the spurs contributed to that no doubt.

i wouldnt be so confident about the spurs winning the series in 5 or 6 tho. thats borderlining on overconfidence, but i guess spurs fans have a reason to feel that way since charles barkley put it best.."theyre like cockroaches, they just wont die" LOL
