There's a reason why he's compared to Kidd/Wade/Payton/Davis and a few others. He's not a replica of any single player. I mentioned Wade, because of the way he uses the hesitation move or cross over, and also how they attack the basket. The way they finish close to the rim are very similar. Just like all four of the comparisons, they're all very physical guards. Still though, what he does after he absorbs the contact reminds me the most of Wade. The area where he looks similar to Payton is at the close to mid-range area around the basket, where they both use one handed touch shots. Athletic ability wise, he also looks similar to Wade. Not as strong as Kidd or Davis, but more explosive than Payton.

His mid-air creativity is where you compare him with Dwyane Wade. His handles and speed is where you compare him with Jason Kidd. His motor is where you compare him with Gary Payton.
However. You can be compared to a mix between Michael Jordan & Magic Johnson. You still have to go out there and prove yourself.

No way in hell he averages 19, 7, 6 his rookie year. He's a damn good player and I actually would prefer him over Beasley for the Heat, but there is no way he averages that his rookie year.Baller 24 wrote:I can see him easily winning rookie of the year by putting up 19pts, 7ast, 6reb, 2stl, on 50% shooting. Perimeter shot selection needs to change, but he is an all rounded player, I can see him becoming very good in the future, possibly at the level Paul/Deron are on right now.
You realize 3 PGs averaged 19 ppg or more this year: Paul, Baron Davis and Arenas.

I don't know if he has the physicality to his game to really compare him to Payton, but I can definitely see where the comparison is coming from.
His ceiling is ridiculously high, great poise and feel for the game. Good rebounder for his height, pass first mentality and tremendous speed and quickness. Also with his athleticism and physical gifts he can be a very good defender as well.
As to who he'd compare with is tough considering it's almost impossible to tell and I honestly haven't seen him play as much as others on this board, but how about a Kevin Johnson with more sounds defense and a better three point shot? Obviously and hopefully with more longevity to his prime than KJ.
